Introduction

Before you’re offered the job you want, you’ll need to have an interview, and to get the interview,
you’ll probably send in a CV with a covering letter.

Together these provide your future employer with the first impression they’ll have of you, so it’s
worth making sure it’s a good one. To do that you’ll need to know:

• What to include in your CV and the covering letter

• How to organise and present your information clearly and concisely
• What employers and recruiters are looking for, and
• How to avoid the common traps and pitfalls that a lot of job seekers fall into.

Making sure you get that interview is an important first step to securing the job you want, but making
sure your CV and covering letter are as good as they can be is the next one.
