INTRODUCTION

In the era of rapid technological advancement, the integration of artificial intelligence

(AI) into various facets of our lives has become increasingly prevalent. One such domain
witnessing transformative changes is education, where AI-powered learning platforms are
revolutionizing traditional teaching methods.

Education is the cornerstone of societal progress, empowering individuals to reach their

full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities. As the world becomes
increasingly complex and interconnected, the role of education in fostering critical thinking,
problem-solving skills, and adaptability becomes paramount.

Artificial intelligence (AI) holds immense potential to revolutionize education by

personalizing learning experiences, optimizing teaching methodologies, and expanding access
to quality education. By harnessing the power of AI, educators can unlock new avenues for
student engagement and achievement, ultimately shaping a brighter future for generations to
come.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the transformative impact of artificial

intelligence in education, focusing on its influence on student engagement and academic
performance through AI-powered learning platforms. It delves into the benefits and challenges
of integrating AI into educational settings, aiming to provide valuable insights for students,
teachers, and stakeholders. By analyzing the potential of AI to enhance the educational
experience and improve student outcomes, the research contributes to ongoing discussions and
informs future practices and policies in education.

LITERATURE REVIEW

The study by Allam et al. (2023) investigates how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is
transforming education. AI acts like a smart helper, making learning easier and more enjoyable.
The researchers discovered that AI can assist teachers and students by saving time and
tailoring learning experiences to individual needs. However, they caution against completely
replacing teachers with AI, emphasizing the enduring value of human interaction in education.
Despite AI’s potential benefits, the study underscores the importance of considering ethical
implications and using AI responsibly to enhance education without diminishing its human
element.
In conclusion, the study suggests that while AI offers promising opportunities to
improve education, it should complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods. By
understanding the capabilities and limitations of AI, educators can harness its potential to
create more engaging and effective learning environments. This balanced approach ensures
that technology enhances, rather than detracts from, the educational experience, ultimately
benefiting both teachers and students.

Another study conducted by Zouhaier Slimi (2023) explores how Artificial Intelligence
(AI) is changing higher education. They looked at how AI affects teaching, testing, ethics, skills
needed, and future jobs. By asking people in higher education, they found that AI is becoming
very important for the future of learning. It helps personalize teaching, gives quick feedback,
and makes administrative tasks easier.
The study shows that AI can make learning better by helping students understand
things easier. It also helps teachers focus on teaching instead of paperwork. People in the study
think AI is good for grading too, as it’s fair and accurate. But when it comes to choosing
between AI or humans for things like hiring, most prefer humans because they understand
people better.
In conclusion, the study highlights how AI is changing higher education. It’s making
learning easier and fairer, but people still prefer humans for certain things. To prepare for the

future, educators need to teach AI skills and make sure it’s used ethically. This way, AI can help
without taking away from what makes us human.

According to Ewelina Majewska-Pyrkosz (2024) research sheds light on how artificial

intelligence (AI) is transforming education. She highlights the urgency of adapting teaching
methods and content to keep pace with technological advancements. Majewska-Pyrkosz
emphasizes the need for educators to embrace AI tools effectively, ensuring that teaching
practices evolve alongside technology.
Moreover, the study stresses the importance of blending traditional teaching with
modern technology for a balanced educational approach. It discusses how AI can enhance
student creativity and problem-solving skills while emphasizing the need to address potential
drawbacks, such as reduced critical thinking and overreliance on technology. The researcher
calls for collaboration among educators, policymakers, and technology specialists to maximize
the benefits of AI in education while mitigating its risks.

HYPOTHESIS

 The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education through AI-powered learning
platforms positively impacts student engagement and academic performance by
providing personalized learning experiences tailored to individual needs, thereby
fostering greater student motivation and achievement.

 The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education does not significantly impact
student engagement and academic performance, and may even lead to negative effects
such as reduced human interaction and reliance on technology, ultimately hindering
learning outcomes.

METHODOLOGY

Population:
The population for this study comprises grade 10 students of Don Felix Serra National
High School.

Sample:
A sample of 20 grade 10 students will be selected through purposive sampling to
participate in the study. Purposive sampling ensures that participants possess relevant
experiences and perspectives regarding the integration of artificial intelligence in education.

Variables:
1. Independent Variable: Integration of artificial intelligence in education
2. Dependent Variables:
a. Student engagement – Measured through qualitative feedback obtained during
interviews, focusing on students’ experiences, perceptions, and levels of engagement with AI-
powered learning platforms.
b. Academic performance – Assessed through academic records and self-reported
grades, examining any correlations with the use of AI in education.

Data Gathering Method:

Interviews will serve as the primary method for data collection. Semi-structured
interviews will be conducted with the selected students to gather qualitative insights into their
experiences, perceptions, and attitudes towards AI-powered learning platforms. The interviews
will be guided by a set of open-ended questions designed to explore the impact of AI on
student engagement and academic performance. Additionally, demographic information such as

age, gender, and prior experience with AI technology will be collected to contextualize the
findings.

Data Analysis:
Thematic analysis will be employed to analyze the interview data. The transcripts will be
coded, categorized, and interpreted to identify recurring themes and patterns related to student
engagement and academic performance in the context of AI integration. The analysis will
provide a comprehensive understanding of the benefits and challenges associated with AI-
powered learning platforms, shedding light on their transformative impact on education.
