Cape Town, South Africa — The Climate


Cape Town, like Los Angeles, has a Mediterranean climate with cool, rainy winters and warm, dry
summers. It has 3,100 hours of sunlight a year. In the summer, that's eleven hours of sun a day.
Winter begins in June and ends at the end of August. The average maximum temperature is 64
degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius) and the minimum is 46 degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees
Celsius). Summers are from December to March. February can be very hot and windy. The average
temperature in summer is 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius). These are the seasons;
however, the weather is a little crazy in Cape Town: people say you can have all four seasons in one
day!
