Take Over

Chapter One
Long, dark hallway

I woke up. Where was I? I saw complete darkness. Was I blind? No. I
felt my face and there was a mask? I tried to pull it off, but it
wouldn’t budge. I didn’t like not being able to see but I sat up and
got off what seemed like a bed. I had an idea of how to get it off, but
I wasn’t sure if it would work. I felt around for a wall and once I
found one, I started to continuously bang my head on the wall. It
loosened just enough for me to pull it off. Now that I could see, I
looked around. The windows were boarded up, the room itself was
in a terrible state. I was in a filthy white gown. It didn’t even look
white anymore because of the amount of dust and dirt. Turning
around, there was a door leading to a long, dark hallway.

Chapter Two
Haven
If I were in a different scenario, I would not go there. In this case I
had to go because I can’t stay here forever, and I wanted to find a
way out of the building. I took a deep breath and walked through
and went right. Walking through the hallway, there were empty dark
rooms, windows all boarded up, so no light came in.
I silently walked to the last room that wasn’t empty. It had a bed and
on that bed was a blanket that was wriggling. There was something
under it. I shifted towards the blanket and lifted my hand towards
the thing. With a swift movement, I took the blanket off to reveal a
chained-up girl with a mask.
“Who are you?” I asked, taking two steps back.
“I’ll tell you afterwards, just please take these chains off,” the girl
said.
“How can I trust you to not pull anything?” I questioned suspiciously.
“I swear I won’t do anything!” she plead. I unlocked the chains and
took the mask off.
“So, what’s your name then?” I asked, sitting next to her on the bed.
“Haven, what’s yours?”
“Abigail but you can just call me Abbey.” There was an awkward
silence, but Haven was the one who broke it.
“How did you get here then?” she asked.
“What?”
“Well, you must be here for a reason, right?” I looked down. I had no
idea why I was here and what this place was. It seemed like Haven
and I were the only people here.
“I don’t know, do you know why you’re here?” I finally asked.
“No, that’s why I asked you, I thought you might know.” she replied.
I stood up. I walked towards the door I came in from.
“Where are you going?” Haven asked, getting up from the untidy
bed.
“I want to find out why we are here and staying here is not an option
for me.”
“Well, I guess I’m coming with you,” Haven said.
Chapter Three
Hillwood city
It took us about five minutes to find stairs that lead down to the
exit. The whole place was dark and dirty. It looked like no-one had
cleaned it in years. The place was pitch black and the stairs winded
round.
“Can you slow down?” huffed Haven. “We’ve been walking for so
long, and I’m not wearing shoes, I can’t even feel my feet anymore.”
I stopped.
“I’m not wearing shoes either but am I complaining?” I asked, turning
around to face her.
“No?” she replied.
“Then shut up and keep walking,” I muttered. I kept on walking down
the stairs with Haven lagging behind me. After a while, we reached
the bottom of the stairs. There was another long hallway and at the
end was a door painted over with black. The place looked like a
reception, where you would go for an appointment. There were no
chairs except from the on at the front desk. Broken pieces of old
furniture lay on the ground. I turned around to Haven who was
looking at something.
“What is that?” I asked, walking up to her. It looked a thin suitcase. It
was long and black with a handle.
“Should I open it?” Haven asked, eyeing the box.
“Maybe later,” I replied. “Let’s take it with us.” She picked up the box
and wiped the dust off. We walked towards the door and I put my
hands on the door.
“What’s taking you so long, open the door already,” huffed Haven.
“It won’t open, the door’s rusty” I grunted, trying to push the door
open.
“Maybe it’s a pull door, let me try” Haven said, pulling the handle.
“It’s definitely a push door, there’s a dusty sign that says it,” I said.
“Let’s just push it at the same time.” Gently, Haven put the box down
and took a few steps back. With full speed, she ran at the door and
pushed it, busting it open.
“That was easy,” said Haven.
“Okay but can you do me a favour?” my voice muffled.
“What?”
“Please get off me.”
“Oh sorry!”
I brushed the dirt off my clothes and walked towards a dirty sign
board.
“Where are you going?” asked Haven.
Rubbing the sign board with my hand, it read Hillwood City.

Chapter Four
Black, scaly dragon
Hillwood City? I thought. That sounds familiar. I turned to Haven who
was waiting for a response.
“I don’t really remember anything but the name Hillwood City
sounds really familiar”, I finally said.
“Hillwood City sounds familiar to me too but I don’t remember any-
thing about this city”, said Haven.
I looked towards a dark alleyway.
“Let’s go through there, maybe it leads to the main square”, I said,
pointing at it.
“Why do we have to go there?
