Leadership Development

Becoming a Leader for Life

We lead by virtue of who we are.

The essence of leadership and executive development is

growing the whole person to grow the whole leader.
As we learn to master our growth as a person, we will be on
the path to mastery of Leadership.
“As leaders, the more we can unleash our whole
capabilities – mind, body, spirit – the more value we
can create within and outside of our organizations.”

(Bill George, former Chairman and CEO of Medtronic)

What is Leadership?
What is fundamental to the most effective,
results-producing leaders:

Authenticity Well developed self-awareness that openly

faces strengths, vulnerabilities, and
development challenges.
Influence Meaningful communication that connects with
people by reminding self and others what is
genuinely important.

Value Creation Passion and aspiration to serve multiple

constituencies – self, team, organization, world,
family, community – to sustain performance
and contribution over the long term.

Three Essential Questions

1. How can we enhance our authenticity as a

leader?
2. How can we extend the influence we have?

3. How can we create more value?

Most significant growth and development
needs to begin with self-leadership,
mastery of oneself.
What is Mastery?

Mastery is an ongoing, internal growth

process.

dedicated to a more conscious,
intentional manner of living and
leading.
Who are you?...

1. –
Put everything you know about
yourself on one piece of paper.
2. – Use some kind of graphic on
that piece of paper, in order to
organize the information about
yourself.
