14. A 230 V DC shunt machine has armature circuit resistance of 0.5 Ω and field circuit resistance of 115 Ω.
If this machine is connected to 230 V mains and the line current is 40 A. Calculate the EMF generated in
case of motoring and generating modes.
Ans: Eg= 251 V and Eb = 211V.

slip of 3% at a certain load. Determine (i) the speed of the rotor. (ii) the frequency of rotor current
when the slip is 3%. (iii) the speed of the rotor magnetic field with respect to the stator magnetic field.
