WEEK 5
Imaging and Design for Online Environment
MULTIPLE IMAGES
You can combine multiple images to make a point or use to highlight your
message.
SHADOW
Using shadow effect will make the image realistic, because they
emphasize the object effectively. It is realistic in a way that every item has a
shadow if it needs one and
every item is proportional to
everything else.
PROPORTION
When combining images, resize the image to make it proportionate and
realistic. Proportion is probably one of the
most important things a designer must
possess if he wants to do image
manipulations. This will make the image
more realistic if the original design is
extremely far-fetched. Remember that
images that are supposed to be far away
have to be smaller than the ones that are closer.
BLENDING COLOR
You can use color blending to match the background with other
elements in the
page.
TEXTURE
Texture is the surface quality of the image. It adds to the depth of the
image and blends all the image together evenly. Image texture gives us
information about the spatial arrangement of color or intensities in an
image or selected region of an image.
Basic image manipulation using offline or open source software
PICASA- Picasa is a Google’s free photo manager to edit and organized your
photos. It has tools for photo editing like crop, straighten, rotate, red eye
removal, contrast and filters. originally created by a company named
Lifescape (which at that time was incubated by Idealab) in 2002. "Picasa"
is a blend of the name of Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, the phrase mi
casa (Spanish for "my house") and "pic" for pictures
Exercises/Activities:
Activity 1. Guess the following techniques used to manipulate the images. (2
points each)
1. 3. 5.
2. 4.
Activity 2 Give at least 5 applications of image manipulation you mostly used.
