MomSense this month!

Upcoming Events:
MOPS Meetings No Meeting on November 24th Next Meeting: December 8th 6-8 PM

During the November meeting we will be talking about how to deal with conflict and the goal of practicing patience in those stressful moments as a mother, a wife, and as a member of the human race. Sometimes patience is not easy, so we must develop ways to maintain our cool and to keep the stress levels down. We have to find ways to practice selfcare. Many women find it difficult to find activities that promote this type of therapy, while still maintaining a home and family. Even though it is difficult, time should be devoted every day to something you as an individual like to do or find interesting. This might mean getting up a bit early, or staying up a snag later than normal. You will find it very worth-

been leading the Rez Moms group at her church located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. December 22nd will be our Christmas Meeting. We wont make you guess, but we did think it would be fun to give you a few clues about some of the ladies in our group. Each month we will feature a Mom so that we can begin to get to know one another! We have recently interviewed Natalie Lowman and this is what we discovered... Name: Natalie Lowman Birthday: December 22nd Anniversary: Nov. 2nd, 1996 (Married 15 years to Jason)! Child: Kaitlynn Lowman, Age 13 Where were you born? Fort Collins, Colorado Where do you live now? Thurmont, MD Favorite Book: The Bible (2nd would be the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks) Favorite Verse: Deut. 33:27a The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Favorite Kids Book: A Charlie Brown Christmas (just has the sweetest story ever). Favorite Kids Game: Life, because everyone is a winner at the game of life. What is the best Clue youve gotten to get you through the game of Life ? Compromise! Life is not always black and white, sometimes we have to learn to live in the grey. What do you do to un-Scrabble when you feel like youve been through a Twister as a mom? A bubble bath and a book. What is your current Battleship? The teenage years My best strategy is to remain Kaitlynns friend. I know that I must wear the mom hat and teach her right from wrong. But if I dont give her a chance to talk about the small everyday things.she may never talk to me about the really important stuff. Since she was little we have occasional sleepovers just like she would with her friends. We watch movies, eat popcorn, paint nails and do whatever girls do! I think this time is so important for our relationship. I also recognize the need for me to also be her mom and she knows the boundaries. Monopoly Chance Card: You get 2 hours to yourself, what do you do? At this point in my life, two hours to myself doesnt happen very often. But, if it doesI love to sit down and watch a good chic-flick! Even though 9 out of 10 times you know whats going to happen nextthey always have a happy ending! If you had a Magic 8 Ball, what would you ask? Will my daughter successfully make it through high school and college without any major life stuff?

Stories from our MOPS on how laughing can help them keep their cool while disciplining Jessica says I was having really rough time with Zack He did not want to sleep at all and we were both getting pretty irritable. When Zack gets really mad he blows raspberries : ) So here I was at 2am trying really hard not to laugh out loud at him because he was blowing angry raspberries everywhere, It made me forget all about being so frustrated. Gretchen says that when she is correcting her kids, they look up at her with these great big eyes and it just makes her smile. Lacy says her son, was not sitting still in church, so I took him outside to give him a stern talking to. I was looking him right in the eye and being very serious, when a leaf fell on my face. I had no idea what it was a bug, or bird poop. I jumped and he just started laughing I think we both forgot why we were outside and just laughed together! Each month we will feature a quick and easy recipe that will be fun for the whole family! Im still stuck on pumpkin! If you were at our Nov. 10th meeting you got to sample this recipe. I sort of threw the ingredients together, so I have no one to blame but myself if its not good.
