Section 3: Turnout and Bearing

Besides the ability to execute the foot drills, cadets will also be assessed on these respective areas: Personal Appearance, Shirt
Trousers & Beret, Boots & Garters, Alertness & Sharpness of Movement and Bearing.

1) Personal Appearance: facial hair, hair length, finger nails, hair net (girls).
2) Shirt, Trousers & Beret: seasoning of beret, neatness of attire, quality of uniform.
3) Boots & Garters: boots appearance, boot laces, pants being tucked in garters neatly.
4) Alertness & Sharpness of Movement: cadet’s movement of coming to Attention when the assessor is assessing him/her, other
mistakes which reflect lack of alertness
5) Bearing: body posture, locking of arms, leaning on one leg, “stomach in chest out”, looking up
