Paragraph 1 – must include your purpose of writing, the position you are resigning
from, name of current company and effective date (last date of your employment –
considering two weeks after the date of the letter.)
Examples:
*I have decided to tender my resignation. My last day will be [date].
*Please accept this letter as my notice of resignation, effective [date].
This is to formally notify you that I am resigning from [company name] as [title]. [Date]
will be my last day of employment.
*Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation from [Company name], ef-
fective [date, two weeks from date above]. The associations I've made during my em-
ployment here will truly be memorable for years to come.

Paragraph 2 – must include the reason for resigning, compliments to the current
company and state any knowledge, experiences and good memories gained.
Examples:
*This wasn’t an easy decision, because I am grateful for the rewarding employment I’ve
had with [company name], such an outstanding organization. But after long hours of
consideration, my decision is now final and I have accepted a position with another
company.
*The reason for me to resign is the offer that I have received from another company
which would be good for my career growth. I appreciate all the knowledge about
management, project leadership and communication skills that I have learned throughout
my working period with you for almost 5 years now.
*I made this decision, not because I’m unhappy with the opportunities you’ve presented,
but as a strategic career move. It’s been a great pleasure working with you and
representing the company.
*While I believe that I am moving for good reasons, I am sorry to leave, and I thank you
for your support during my time with the company, which I have found enjoyable and
fulfilling.

Paragraph 3 – must include your willingness to assist/help, ensure work settlement,


words of thanks and good wish
*I hope a two-week notice is sufficient for you to find a replacement for me. If I can help
to train my replacement or tie up any loose ends, please let me know. I wish you and
[company name] a continued success.
*Please feel free to call on me if I can help ensure a smooth transition. Thank you again
for giving me the opportunity to work here. Sincere thanks and best wishes for the future.
*Please let me know the arrangements for handing back equipment, company car, etc,
and handing over outstanding work and responsibilities.
