Reasons for Referral

The client was referred to assess cognitive abilities and intellectual level.

Presenting Complaints

The client didn’t show up with presenting complaints. The purpose of this

psychological assessment was to evaluate the client’s cognitive abilities and

intellectual level.

Test Administered

Standard Progressive Matrices (SPM) was used for assessment of client’s intellectual

level. This test checks how well someone can understand and think clearly. Before

starting, the client got clear instructions, and she followed them perfectly. She did a

great job cooperating and following all the steps.

Clinical Interview

The purpose of the conduction of this interview to get an overall idea of

client’s intellectual level. The informed consent was taken before the interview. To

gain her confidentiality, a short explanation was provided to her of reason of

conducting the interview.


Behavioral Observation

The client's actions were observed upon entering the room. She was

dressed appropriately and appeared well-groomed. She seated herself calmly and

conducted herself in a manner fitting the situation. Throughout the session, she

maintained good eye contact with the examiner and upheld suitable body posture.

She asked a few questions regarding the test procedures and outcomes. There were

no obvious signs of any abnormalities.

Background History

Client is 24 years old female who has completed her bachelors a year ago. She

is eldest sister among 4 siblings. She belongs to a middle class family. Her parents

have a satisfactory relationship with each other. She shares a strong bond with her

siblings and mother as well. Her parents provide support love, care and warmth to all

the children. Overall, she receives a healthy and satisfactory home environment.

She achieved all developmental milestones on time. Her academic

performance throughout the life was commendable. She was an intelligent student in

her class and always showed good performance. She shared a good relationship with

her school friends.

Client reported to suffer from anxiety while she was 16. She didn’t have any

medical history in her family.

Qualitative Analysis

Evaluation of above table will be evaluated in qualitative analysis. Raw scores

in the above table shows sum of correct responses of client in all sets (i-e A,B, C, D, E)

Client received percentile score of 90, which means that client performs equal to or

better than 90% of people of her age range. Grades are given in the manual according

to different percentile scores, which clearly shows intellectual level of test taker.

Client falls in 2nd + grade according to her percentile score. It means that she has an

“above average intellectual capacity”. Discrepancy is actually a method for analyzing

error either in test administration, or it’s scoring. Discrepancy value above +2 and

below -2 shows that the test result is not reliable and it needs to be administered again.

This result shows discrepancy value -3, which means we cannot rely on given results.

Conclusion

Above results gives a conclusion that the 24 years old client performed test in

36 minutes. Results from her responses revealed that she has intellectual capacity

above average.
