With reference to the Job Description, please explain how your skills, abilities and
experience meet the specific requirements of the role, providing examples of where and
how you have demonstrated these?
Last year, I assigned my students to lead a video project for promoting education and mental health on
social media platforms. They worked hard and completed their project. One of the best videos we’ve
got was a storytelling of a man, named Mr. Veng Sereyvuth, who survived the Khmer Rouge regime.
Mr. Veng Sereyvuth faced many life-and-death challenges but he managed to live through it
peacefully. His life journey was full of sufferings but he never loses hope because of it.
Since this is a touching video, it went viral and reached about 1.2M views on social media and
counting. The video taught many viewers about being patient, taking risks and never giving up hopes.
This is a success for our leadership class and for the Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC)
family since it makes a positive impact among social media users in the community. We made this
untold story heard. Many adult users on social media benefit a lot from this video. They will learn to
stop complaining about life anymore. They will learn to appreciate every moment of life.
At the end of the class, I made an anonymous survey about what they like the most about the class.
Students were asked to write their opinions and not show their identity. As I collected and read their
letters randomly. I found one thing in common during my teaching is that "small is big." Whatever
good or bad we are doing, it produces huge impact on others and I want to make positive impact. I
envision myself to be a professional storyteller.

To connect the dots, I realize that I have to add more values to myself, especially the skills in digital
content creation and arts of storytelling. The offered post is the perfect fit to my mission. That is why
I am applying to join this BBC Media Action community. I will contribute my part of the Cambodian
side so that you will get a clearer picture about Cambodian society and attitude of young people. In
return, I will be taught a lot about what it means to be a profession people in media service and
importantly accumulating the skills to do storytelling. I will bring positive change to my community
through the righteous way of making storytelling.
