Put the necessary headings above here: name, date, experiment number.

Choose a writing style that looks professional and use font 12.
Use double space or 1.5 so that your work does not look jumbled.

Even though you have worked in a group and have the same results your report
should be individual work.

Title: Ultraviolet Radiation
Problem Statement: Ultraviolet radiation causes darkening of ordinary photographic film. The
degree of darkening of the film can be measured using a light source and a light meter which is
sensitive only to visible regions. It is known that a certain type of glass absorbs ultraviolet
radiation by different amounts, depending on the thickness of the glass.
Plan and design an experiment to investigate the absorption of ultraviolet radiation in varying
thicknesses of glass.

Hypothesis:

PUT PROCEDURE IN PRESENT TENSE

1. Set up the apparatus as shown in diagram.

Expected Results:

Place table here

State your expected relationship in comparing the two main quantities from results table and
then state how your hypothesis can be proven “true” or made valid.

You can also place a sample graph and explain how your hypothesis can be verified from it.

Sources of Error/Precautions:
At least 2 however should be written in future tense (such as ensure that or x
error/uncertainty may arise from …)

Limitations/Assumptions:
At least 2 however should be written in future tense (such as x equipment may not
be available or the assumption can be made that……)

Criteria for Marking

1. Statement of hypothesis 2
2. Aim is related to hypothesis 1
3. Apparatus and material given 2
4. Variables identified. 2

5. The procedure follows a logical sequence 6

 Procedure tests stated aim -1
 All essential steps present - 3
 Appropriate language used - 1
 Data to be collected is identified -1
6. Expected results are stated 3
 Table showing the data collected - 1
 Show how results can support hypothesis - 2

7. Precautions/ Errors/Limitation/Assumptions stated 2

Overall marks for P/D is out of 18 marks
