CONDITIONALS REVISION

A. Complete the sentences using Zero Conditional.

CONDITIONALS REVISION - ANSWERS

A. Complete the sentences using Zero Conditional.

1. If you mix yellow and red, you get orange.


2. When the sun rises the street lights go out.

5. Food gets sweeter when you add sugar to it.

B. Complete the sentences using the First Conditional.

1. If I go out tonight (Clause, condition, Present Simple), I will (I´ll) go to the cinema (Main
clause, result, Will + Infinitive).
2. I will (I´ll) come early (Main clause, result, Will + Infinitive) if you want (Clause, condition,
Present Simple).
3. They will take a taxi (Main clause, result, Will + Infinitive) if it rains (Main clause, result, Will
+ Infinitive).
4. We will be late (Main clause, result, Will + Infinitive) if we do not (don´t) hurry (Clause,
condition, Present Simple).
5. If you do not (don´t) want to eat out (Clause, condition, Present Simple), I will cook dinner
at home (Main clause, result, Will + Infinitive).

C. Complete the sentences using If or Unless.

1. We can´t go to the beach unless the rain stops. (A negative, we can´t go, and a positive sentence,
the rain stops)
2. I won´t go to the party unless he goes too. (A negative, I won´t go, and a positive sentence, he goes
too)
3. You won´t be able to find the house if you don´t know the address. (Two negative sentences, won´t
be able to, don´t know the address).
4. My mum will cook us dinner if we decide to stay in tonight. (Two positive sentences, Mum will cook
us dinner, decide to stay in)
5. I won´t talk to her again unless she apologises to me. (A negative, I won´t talk to her, and a positive
sentence, apologises to me)
D. Complete the sentences using the Second Conditional.

1. If I had enough money (Clause, condition, Past Simple), I would buy a motorbike (Main clause,
result, Would/Could + Infinitive).
2. She would pass her English exam (Main clause, result, Would/Could + Infinitive) if she studied
more grammar (Clause, condition, Past Simple).
3. If we were not friends (Clause, condition, Past Simple), I would be angry with you (Main clause,
result, Would/Could + Infinitive).

6. I would be happier if I had my own car instead of having to share my Mum´s. (Second Conditional,
imagine the present, talk about unlikely future situations)
7. I would have gone to that university if I had lived nearby. (Third Conditional, imagine a different
past)
8. If I don´t go to bed early, I will be tired for school tomorrow. (First Conditional, likely future
situation)
9. We would have come to see your show if we had the time. (Second Conditional, imagine the
present, talk about unlikely future situations)
10. If I had studied more English, I would have gone to England to work. (Third Conditional, imagine a
different past)
