Design The Space Mouse Base

Step 1: Create the Filleted pad.

1. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on XY plane.

2. Exit the Sketcher.

3. Switch to the Generative Shape Design workbench.
4. Select the Plane icon.
 Choose Offset from Plane as Plane type.
 In the Reference field, open a contextual menu and select Create
Plane.
 In the new Plane Definition dialog box, choose Angle/Normal to
Plane as plane type
 In the Rotation axis field open a contextual menu then select Create
Line.
 In the Line Definition dialog box, choose Point-Direction as Line
type
 In the Point field open a contextual menu then select Create Point.
 In the Point Definition dialog box choose Point by coordinates as
Point type then create a point with the (0 ;0 ;0) as coordinates.
 Click on OK to create the Point
 In the Line definition dialog box open a contextual menu in the
direction field then select the X Axis
 Choose End = 20
 Click on OK to create the Line.
 In the Plane Definition dialog box select XY plane as reference and
enter a Angle of 6.5 deg.
 Click on OK to create the Plane2
In the Plane Definition dialog enter an offset value of 15 mm
Click on OK to create the Plane1
5. Switch to the Part Design workbench.
6. Select the Pad icon.
 Choose Up to Plane as extension type.
 Select the Sketch.1 as Profile.
 Select the last created Plane as Limit. (Plane1)
 Click on OK to create the Pad.
7. Select the Fillet icon.
 Select the upper edge , enter value is 3mm .
 Click on OK to create the Fillet.

Step 2: Create the surface elements.

1. Switch to the Generative Shape Design workbench.


2. Select the Plane icon by a double click.
 Choose Offset from Plane as Plane type.
 Select the ZX plane as reference and enter -10mm as Offset value.
 Click on OK to create the plane 3.
 Select the ZX plane as reference and enter -110mm as Offset value.
 Click on OK to create the plane 4.
3. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch ( the arc ) on
the created Plane.3 < Sketch 2>

4. Exit the Sketcher

5. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch ( the arc ) on
the created Plane.4 < Sketch 3>

6. Exit the Sketcher


7. Select the Multi-sections Surface icon. Create a simple Multi-
sections Surface 1 using < Sketch 2> and < Sketch 3> as Sections

8. Select the Line icon. Choose Point-Point as Line type then select
the indicated vertices on <Sketch 2>. Click OK to create the Line 2

9. Select the Fill surface icon .
 In the Fill Surface Definition panel select the Sketch 2 and Line 2.
 Click on OK to create the Fill 1.

10. Select the Join icon


 Select the just created Fill.1 and Multi-sections Surface 1 as
Elements to join.
 Click on OK to create the Join 1.

11. Select the Split icon


 Select the Join 1 as Element to cut then the bottom face of the Pad
as cutting element.
 Click on OK to create the surface.

Step 3: Sew the surface on the Pad.

1. Switch to the Part Design workbench.


2. Select the Sew surface icon.
 Select the previous Split 1.
 Click on the red arrows to orient the material direction.
 Select Intersect body
 Click on OK to create the solid.
3. Hide the surface.

Step 4: Create the Groove.

1. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the YZ
Plane

2. Exit the Sketcher


3. Select the Groove icon.
 Select the just created sketch as Profile then enter the parameters 0
– 360 for angle
 Click on OK to create the Groove.

Step 5: Split the solid with the surface.

1. Select the Plane icon.


 Choose Offset from Plane as Plane type.
 In the Reference field, select Plane 1 , offset value is -2.085.
2. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the created
Plane 5.

3. Exit the Sketcher

1. Select the Plane icon.
 Choose Offset from Plane as Plane type.
 In the Reference field, select Plane 5 , offset value is 15 .
5. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the created
Plane 6.

 Exit the Sketcher


6. Switch to the Generative Shape Design workbench.
7. Select the Multi-sections Surface icon. Create a simple Multi-
sections Surface 2 using the two created sketches as Sections

8. Switch to the Part Design workbench.


9. Select the Split icon.
 Select the Surface 2 as Splitting Element.
 Click on OK to Split the Solid.
10. Hide the Surface.

Step 6: Shell the created solid.

Select the Shell icon.


 Select the bottom face as Face to remove and enter an inside
thickness of 2mm.
 Click on OK to create the Shell.

Step 7: Create the Shaft.

1. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the YZ
Plane

4. Exit the Sketcher


5. Select the Shaft icon
 Select the just created sketch as Profile and enter the parameters 0 -
360 for angle.
 Click on OK to create the Shaft.
6. Click on the Edge Fillet icon.
 Select the two edges on Shaft 1 and enter parameters 2 mm.
 Click on OK to confirm.

Step 8: Create the Holes and Pockets.

1. Select the Hole icon.


 Select the upper face of the just created shaft.
 Choose Simple as Hole type, then Up to Next as Extension type and
enter 28mm as Diameter value.
Creat hole at center of face.
 Click on OK to create the Hole.
7. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the Upper
plane of the part.

8. Perform a symmetry on this sketch using the vertical axis as
reference.
9. Exit the Sketcher
10. Select the Pocket icon.
 Select the just Created sketch. Choose Up to Next as type.
 Click on OK to create the pocket.

11. Select the Hole icon.


 Select the upper face of part.
 Choose Simple as Hole type, then Up to Next as Extension type and
enter 11mm as Diameter value.
 Under the Hole node in the tree double ckick on the created sketch of
the hole to open it
 Add the following contraints on the hole center.

 Exit the Sketcher

12. Select the Sketcher icon.
13. Draw the following Sketch ( Points ) on the Upper plane of the part.

14. Exit the Sketcher


15. Select the User Pattern icon.
 Select the previous hole as element to repeat.
 Select the just created sketch as positions template.
 Click on OK to confirm the pattern creation.
16. Select the Edge Fillet icon.
 Select the upper edges of the just created holes and enter a radius of
0.5 mm.
 Click on OK to confirm the edge fillet creation

17. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following Sketch on the ZX
plane.

18. Exit the Sketcher


19. Select the Pocket icon.
 Select the just Created sketch. Choose Up to Next as type.
 Click on OK to create the pocket.

Step 9: New pattern .

1. Select the Sketcher icon. Draw the following sketch on the YZ


plane.

2. Select the Shaft icon.
 Select the just created sketch as profile. Enter 12.5 degrees as First
and second angles.
 Click on OK to create the shaft.
20. Select the Edge Fillet icon.
 Select the following edges on thge created shaft then enter a radius
value of 0.4mm.

 Click on OK to create the fillet.


21. Create a circular pattern with the new body.
 Select the circular pattern icon
 Select the just created Body as element to repeat. Enter 6 as number
of instances then 60 degrees as angular spacing.
 Select the cylindrical face of the hole as reference element.
 Click on OK to confirm the Pattern creation.

22. Select the Sketcher icon.
23. Select the bottom face of the part as sketch support.
24. Draw the following circle.

25. Exit the Sketcher


26. Select the Pad icon.
 Select the previous sketch as profile and enter a length of 3mm.
 Click on OK to confirm the Pad creation.
27. Create a circular pattern with the new body.
 Select the circular pattern icon
 Select the just created Body as element to repeat. Enter 6 as number
of instances then 60 degrees as angular spacing.
 Select the cylindrical face of the hole as reference element.
 Click on OK to confirm the Pattern creation.
