prepared jumbled words in each level. And remember
if one of you can answer the question then you can
choose among your classmates who will define the

For example we have here.

NARRA + THOR
TORNRRAA

What do you think is the hidden word? Anyone?

Yes, _________ you’re raising your hand
It is narrator ma’am
So you see it’s easy!

Do you think those words are important? Why? Yes ma’am it is important because it contains our
thoughts and ideas and etc. also, some of those
words are used in sharing and spreading information.
B. Presentation of the Lesson
Exactly! But after the activity what is your
observation? What action do we do when we create The action we do in doing narrative ma’am is
poetry, narrative and etc.? writing and I observe ma’am that all those words are
kinds of written text.
Yes, it is kinds or types of written text. Now, what do
you think is our topic for today? Maybe it is written text or text types ma’am!

Excellent! Now who among you here has an idea

about text types? Or based on our activity what is text Text types ma’am are those kinds of written text
types? such as informative, poetry and others.

That’s a good point! Awhile back we have learn

about those words like inform, narrative, narrator,
poetry and written text. These words is connected
with our discussion today. Where in some of this are
the purpose and example of text types.

C. Discussion

So before we start, I want you to take note of these

questions. If you are writer what could be your
purpose and how will you write your story? Because
later on I will ask you to answer these.
Writing are written words that creates meaning and
Before anything else what is writing? As a student message.
how can you define writing?

Excellent answer! So writing is definitely uses

symbols, letters to create words that has message.
And it is done for a number of different purposes and Writing is important in informing, persuading, and
for different audiences. Can someone give me what expressing our ideas about an issue or topic ma’am.
are the purposes of writing?

Yes, that’s great! Just like human beings. Writing

also contains its own purpose and it depends on the
writer what purpose should he/she will display in
his/her written text.
Yes ma’am!
Now, have you tried asking yourself what is your
purpose?
No I didn’t gain the answer /Yes ma’am I gain the
Did you gain the answer? answer

Because I believe that my purpose ma’am is to help

Some says yes some says no. then why yes? my parents and to help other people.

Very good! That’s a good purpose. You have a clear

goal and objective. And remember class that a
purpose is something that we can also share to other
people. Now how about those students who answered
no? Because I am not sure what goals to pursue in the
future ma’am. I don’t know what is waiting for me
Why did you answer no, _______ in the end.

Yes, I understand that. Not all of us gain our purposes

right away sometimes we are not yet aware about the
things that we can do. Or the special qualities we
have but remember, never say the words. “I don’t
have a purpose” because we are all a type of text or a
story that has a purpose, conflicts, setting, readers,
characters, climax and definitely we are the main
character so write your story according to your
purpose. Accept errors and proceed to each chapters. Yes ma’am

Are we clear with that?

Okay, Please shout “I have purpose” when I ask are

we clear with that. I have purpose

Again are we clear with that? I have purpose!

Are we clear with that?

Good now let’s proceed. Writing is done for a number of different purposes
and for different audiences. These different forms of
_____, Please read what’s on the slide. writing are often known as text types at school.

Thank you, so writing is very beneficial not only for Because written works contains information ma’am.
us but also to the different audience or readers. Why
do you think so? What does written works contains?
Yes, _____

That’s right! Written works contains an information

that we inform people, persuading them to do an
action, stating arguments about a certain issues and I have purpose!
lastly, making an analysis about a certain events. Are
we clear with that?

Good! Now these are the different text types: Factual/informative text!

So, first we have. Everyone, please read.

Its purpose ma’am is to inform and to give facts
Base on its name, what do you think is the purpose of
this text? Yes, ______
Excellent! So Factual or informative text is based on
facts. It informs, instructs or persuades people by Yes ma’am it is important!
giving facts and information. And do you think it is
important to give facts? So that they will have the awareness and the
knowledge ma’am
Why?

Exactly! We need to inform others for them to have

the awareness and knowledge which will serves as a
gateway towards innovations, change and impact. For Yes ma’am it is beneficial.
example I will inform you that it is important to
preserve nature by segregating our waste. Do you
think it is beneficial? In a way that we can know the importance of
segregating in preserving the nature.
In what way?

Great answer! So you see it is very important to I have purpose!

inform facts but also make sure that our information
is accurate. Never spread rumors and information that
are not proven. Are we clear with that?

Now, let see the different example of factual or

informative text.
A description of a place ma’am!
We have, here an example Landscape description.
When we say landscape description what comes to
your mind?
We based it on facts ma’am! We should describe a
When you make a landscape description what is the place through concrete description ma’am.
most important actions to do? Do we based it in
imagination or do we based it on facts?

Very good! And that’s Factual description which

describes a place or thing using facts. Santa Ana ma’am is a place that has many tourist
spot and it was fun to travel here. There are many
Now can someone describe Santa Ana? good people that resides in this place.

Very good! So you see factual description help us I have purpose!

picture out a certain place, people, and object with the
use of concrete description. Are we clear with that?
It contains steps on how to move on.
Next, we have an example again so please analyze the
text and tell me your observation?

That’s correct and that’s another informative text

which is called procedure. It gives instructions on Yes ma’am
how to make or do something. Have you experience
following an instruction? Yes ma’am it is easy because ma’am they provide
complete instructions
Is it easy? Why is it easy? /no ma’am it is not easy because sometimes they
don’t give accurate instructions.
Very good, definitely it is important to give Yes ma’am!
instructions with complete, goals, steps and materials. Yes ma’am it is easy/no ma’am it is not easy.

Now have you experience giving an instructions? Because it will guide a person in doing an action.
Is it easy or not?

Why is it important to give instructions?

Very good! Remember class it is important to give
instructions to help other people make a certain
decision and action. And also it is important to follow
instructions that are based on facts, with clear goal,
clear steps and complete awareness about the
materials to be utilized to secure success and When we are cooking ma’am or doing an assignment
fulfillment of the instruction.

Can you give me an example where we need

instructions?

Yes, that’s correct, usually instructions are found in a It contains information about a man that was
recipe, manual, task directions and etc. stabbed.

Now let’s proceed, what can you observe in the

example? Classifies, describes and gives factual information
about people, animals, things or phenomena.
That’s right and our next informative text is

Yes, it classifies or give reports about a certain

events, animals or people. Also it describe that event It tells about Jose Rizal and his contributions to the
in chronological way and organize way. Philippines

Then, again please observe the example. What do you

observe?

Very good observation because this example is a

Factual recount that retells events which have already
happened in time order. So basically it talks about I have purpose!
historical people and historical objects that provides
development or have significant influence in our
history until today. Are we clear with that?
It persuade other people to believe a certain point of
After, factual or informative text we have? view.
Persuasive texts
Now, do you have any idea about this text?

Exactly! You are trying to convince a person to

believe you and also it is a factual text types that give I have purpose!
a point of view to influence an action or to make
change.

Are we clear with that?

Two example that is part of persuasive texts are
exposition and discussion. Now what do you think is
the difference between the two? From the picture we Exposition only one person talks while discussion
have here what do you think is the difference? contains a lot of individuals indulge in a
conversation ma’am.

Very Good! So exposition, gives reasons for a point

of view to try and convince others of it. While
discussion gives different points of view in order to
make an informed decision. Generally exposition I have purpose!
only one person talks but discussion needs opinions
from different people to make a conclusion or
solution.

Are we clear with that?

Great now for the last type of text we have here

another picture,

A book ma’am

A fantasy ma’am?

What do you see in the picture?

Literature ma’am!
Yes, a fantasy book to be exact!
So, what do you think is the last type types base on
the picture, we have here?
It contains an analysis about literature ma’am.
When a certain text is a fiction what do you call this
text? For example Beowulf?

Exactly! So the last text types is Literary text. What

Literary description, literary recount, personal
do you think a literary text contains?
response, review and narrative.
That’s correct it is an analysis, a narrative or a review
of literature.
And this are the following examples under literary
texts please read everyone.
It is restudy ma’am and it is part of the history.
Thank you so for literary description, it describes
people, characters, places, events and things in an
imaginative way.

Next, literary recount.

Again, what is recount?
Yes, that’s correct! So literary recount retells events
from novels, plays, films and personal experiences to I have purpose!
entertain others.
Yes ma’am because it gives as many lessons to learn
Then we have personal response, it gives a personal and shows different point of view of life.
opinion on a novel, play or film, referring to parts
within the passage. Are we clear with that? To reflect ma’am or to show our understanding
about a literary piece.
Now, do you think literature is important? Why?

Very good! Now why do we need to give our

personal response or opinion about a certain
literature?
Review ma’am.
Great answer because giving our response to specific
literature make us realize how important it is in our Restudy ma’am.
life. Sometimes it gives us a vivid picture of good
values and response to specific issues.

Then what’s next?

So what is review base on your own understanding?

That’s right! And for literary text, review

summarizes, analyses and assesses the appeal of a Narrative ma’am!
novel, play or film, to a broader audience

So if personal response contains only one opinion

review contains different analysis or opinion.
I have purpose!
Lastly we have?

And narrative, tells a story using a series of events.

Like for example retelling the story of Cinderella.

Are we clear with that?

D. Application
So I have here cards that contains different titles of
text. Each of you will have a card and you will find
where you should belong is it literary, persuasive or
informative text.

____you will hold the literary

_____ you will hold the informative and ____ you I have purpose!

would go to _____ and those who have informative (The routine will be implemented)
will go to ______ and lastly, those who have
persuasive will go to _____ are we clear with that?

Now move!
(Will facilitate and guide the students while doing
the routine)
Very good! I can see that all of you have understand
what text types are.

E. Generalization

Now, what have you learned from the activities and

discussion? I learned the different text types which are
informative, persuasive and literary texts

Yes, very good! How about the others? I learned about the importance of writing ma’am.

That’s right now it’s time to answer the question that

I have shown you from the start.

If you are a writer what is your purpose? In what way If I am a writer I will write to inform, or to create
will you write your stories? change. And I will write my story in a way that it is
filed with lessons even though there are errors.
Thank you for sharing, remember class that to be a
writer means you are aware that you have a purpose.
And to be a writer means you are also aware that
there is no perfect written works without facing
multiple errors. Further, it is important for us to
realize that our story is under our control, we decide
what to actions to make, what words to say, who are
the characters that we need to be with and we decide
if we learn from each mistakes.

Are we clear with that? I have purpose!

Yes, you are and be proud of it!
