Smart Farming Project

The document describes a smart farming project that uses multiple sensors to monitor soil moisture, temperature, humidity, water quality, wind speed, and sunlight. The sensor data is sent to farmers' phones to help with irrigation scheduling and fertilizer recommendations to increase crop yields in a sustainable way.

Project Title : Smart Farming Technologies For Sustainable Agriculture Development By

Using Multi Sensor Data Integrator

Problem Statement : To provide efficient decision support system using wireless sensor
network which handle different activities of farm and gives useful information related to farm
field to farmer. Farmers are under pressure to produce more food and use less energy and water
in the process. A sensor automation data integrator and control system will help farmers deal
effectively with these pressures.

About Project : in this project smart agriculture using sensor integration system it consists
of Temperature sensor, soil Moisture sensor, water level sensor, water quality sensor, wind speed
and sun light sensor. When the sensor based agriculture monitoring system starts it checks the
water level, humidity and soil moisture level water quality, air temperature and wind speed. It
sends SMS alert on the phone about the levels. Sensors sense the level of water if it goes down,
it automatically starts the water pump. If the temperature goes above the level, fan starts.

Why Is The Particular Topic Chosen :

➢ To make a smart farming system which will provide information to farmers regarding:
1. Fertilizers to be used (according to present chemical composition of soil)
2. Information related to soil moisture, temperature , humidity , water level quality , wind
speed and sunlight etc.
3. Amount of water to be provided (according to soil moisture and water qualily).
4. To provide cost effective user friendly system

Objective :
➢ Provide effective decision support system
➢ Minimum cost
➢ User friendly system
Motivation :
➢ Reduces wastage of water
➢ Make farmers life more better
➢ Increase crop yield

Scope Of The Project :

➢ By providing smart wireless sensor network for an agriculture field, monitoring various
parameters such as below:
➢ Temperature and humidity • Soil moisture • water quality and level etc.
➢ We are providing Irrigation method for distribution of water to agriculture field in the
whole farm or as per requirement of crop.
➢ By Using chemical composition of soil we can recommend which fertilizers to be used.
System fully organized in such manner user can access it sensor or within a field.
➢ For this we are going to provide technical way to make a smart and modern agriculture.
We are designing the hardware system for which will be cost effective to farmer.

Methodology Of The Project :

Testing Technologies Used :
This system will be tested in lab and on farming section and garden.

Hardware And Software To Be Use :

Sr.no Name of the material / hardware and software

1. Power supply + battery back up

2. Controller

3. Cooling fan and humidifier

4. Display

5. dispenser

6. Water irrigation pipe

7. Soil moisture sensor (tensiometer)

8. Temperature and humidity sensor(thermistor)

9 Water quality sensor (turbidity)

10. Wind speed and sunlight and clouding sensor(anemometer)

11. Water level sensor (level sensor)

Water tubing and pump with spray nozzles with solenoid

12. Valve based control

13. Bluetooth module for signal transmitting

14. Water storage tank and pvc structure and pvc trays

15. Conveyor guide and motors

16 Plant grow lights

17 miscellaneous
Application :
➢ Hydroponics farming
➢ Vertical farming
➢ Green houses
➢ Etc

Conclusion :
We are implementing a decision support system for monitoring different farm activities. Using
monitoring information farmer can access or control his farm activities. It helps to increase a productivity
and reduces wastage of water and chemical fertilizers. Our system is user friendly and effectively.
