GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. REPORTING AND TESTING


AT AIR FORCE SELECTION BOARDS (AFSB)

1. Reporting. This Call Letter along with your original Admit Card would be the authority for you to report to
the nominated Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) for Testing. The same is to be handed over to the Board on
arrival. You must report for the interview on the date, time and address as specified above. Late comers, on any
account (inclusive of late running of trains/buses/airplane) will not be admitted for test. You would be required to
show your admit card, call letter and identity proof (preferably AADHAR Card) at the reporting point (Varanasi
Cantt Railway Station, Cantonment side exit near overhead bridge (near Platform No 9), kindly keep them
handy. The first day consists of Phase-I testing which may last upto 1700hrs. You are advised to take adequate
rest and come prepared for a long day of testing. You would need to be attired appropriately in comfortable
dress. You should be mandatorily in possession of a re-usable face mask, face shield, pocket sanitizer, hand
gloves, water bottle and COVID-19 negative certificate. On arrival, you will be checked for visible symptoms of
fever, cough and cold followed by checking of safe status on ‘Arogya Setu App and test reports of COVID-19
negative certificate. You are to be in possession of COVID-19 Asymptomatic/ Negative Certificate from
authorised laboratory / hospital (Preferably RT-PCR /Rapid Antigen Test) obtained not earlier than 72
hours prior to reporting time at this Board. You are advised to download the ‘Arogya Setu' App prior to date
of reporting and entry to the Board premises would not be permitted without ‘safe’ status on the App. In case of
any visible symptoms you will be routed back without testing. In addition, before reporting at this Board you must
familiarize yourself and follow the latest instructions/ norms/ advisories of your home state and the state of Uttar
Pradesh. In case of any requirement of registration on state e-portal, the same must be done well in time.

2. Selection Procedure. The testing schedule is for a period six days and will be as follows.

Schedule Activity
Day 1 Phase I- Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test, Document
Check (For Ph II candidates) followed by Lunch and PIQ filling.
Candidates not recommended for Ph-II will be routed back between 1500h to 1600h.
Day 2 Phase II - Psychological Test . 0700h to 1030h Interviews . 1100h onwards
Day 3 & 4 Group Tests / Interviews . 0700h to 1600h
Day 5 Board Conference. Candidates not recommended would depart after the Conference.
Candidates who are recommended would fill up documents after the Conference. Non-flying
branch candidates would depart after filling relevant forms.
Day 6 CPSS for candidates eligible for flying branch only. Document filling after CPSS for relevant
branch, as applicable.
3. Documents. You are required to bring the following relevant documents for verification along with two self
attested photocopies of documents listed at 3 (b), (c), (d), (e), (g), (h), (j) and (k). They should be kept in a folder in the
sequence as enumerated below:-
(a) Original Admit Card. In case it is not available with the candidate, he/she is to furnish an affidavit stating the
valid reason. The reason also needs to be supported by documents like copy of FIR, in case of loss/theft of the
same.
(b) Original Matriculation/Secondary School Passing Certificate and Mark sheets issued by CBSE/ICSE/State
Board/any other recognised Board indicating Date of Birth.
(c) Original Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate of 10+2 or equivalent (issued by the relevant Board).
(d) Proof of Passing the Qualifying Examinations.
(i) If applying on the basis of Graduation, all semesters / years mark sheets in original. In case of
computer generated mark sheets/ photocopy of mark sheet, the same must be attested by College /
University authority.
(ii) If applying on the basis of Graduation, degree certificate (Original/Provisional). In case of
photocopy of degree certificate, the same must be attested by College/ University authority.
(iii) If applying on the basis of Post Graduation, in addition to (i) & (ii) above PG degree
(Original/Provisional) with all semesters /years mark sheets. In case of computer generated/ photocopy of
mark sheets / degree certificate, the same must be attested by College/ University authority.
(iv) Bonafide Certificate in case the candidate is appearing/ appeared in the final year / semester of
qualifying examination. In case candidate is appearing in Final year/ semester of PG, then he / she is also
to produce documents mentioned in (i) & (ii) above.
(e) The Bonafide Certificate (as per the format in candidate’s log in at afcat.cdac.in or as attached with this
letter) should include the following:-
(i) Name of the College.
(ii) Name of the University.
(iii) Discipline and year/semester of Graduation/Post Graduation being pursued.
(iv) Aggregate percentage till last year/semester (for which the result is declared).
(v) Likely date of Declaration of Final Result (in MM/YY Format). In case the likely date of result
declaration is beyond 15 Jun for course commencing in July or 15 Nov for course commencing in January,
the onus of producing the required documents before the specified date lies with the candidate.
(vi) CGPA/SGPA to percentage conversion formulae.
(vii) No current backlog.
(f) The candidate should not have current backlog at the time of appearing for SSB interview. In case the
candidate has cleared the backlog of any semester, the same should be substantiated with original or attested copy
of mark sheet issued by College / University. Alternately, a certificate clearly mentioning the year of passing &
marks scored from College / University authority may be produced. Merely re-appearing in that subject will not be
construed as clearing the backlog.
(g) Original NCC ‘C’ Air Wing Certificate is mandatory for NCC Entry only.

(h) NOC from employer of candidates working in Central/State Governments or Public Sector Undertakings.
(j) Original valid Commercial Pilots’ License, issued by DGCA, if applicable.
(k) Proof of Identity. Candidates to bring valid photo ID along with two self attested photo copies of the same.
AADHAAR Card, Indian Passport, Voter Identity Card, Driving License, PAN Card, College ID (valid only for
candidates studying in final year / semester) shall be accepted as proof of identity
(l) Candidates have to mandatorily provide details of two Gazetted Officers or trust worthy persons (not in
blood relation) and residing near their place of residence and who know them personally to facilitate verification.
The candidates should have in their possession the name, designation, postal address with pin code and contact
number of the two gazetted officers.
(m) Candidates are also advised to bring twenty five copies of recent passport size colour photographs taken in
light colored clothes against white background. The candidates should be visible in full face and both ears in
photograph.
(n) Call Up Letter. Print out of this call letter or call letter from cdac site in candidates’s log in.
4. Candidates are to take printout (in separate sheets of A-4 size paper) of the following forms provided with
this call letter. Bring these forms duly filled to AFSB for testing. The forms will not be provided at AFSB. You have
to mandatorily carry these forms duly filled in all aspect.
(a) Declaration Form
(b) Candidate Questionnaire
(c) Journey particulars
(d) Course cum Percentage Certificate
(e) Form of Indemnity
(f) Bonafide certificate (in case the candidate is appearing/ appeared in the final year / semester of qualifying
examination).
(g) Undertaking and self-certification for COVID-19 and COVID-19 Asymptomatic/ Negative Certificate from
authorised laboratory / hospital. You are to strictly abide by the following covid related regulations.

(i) Production of Covid-19 negative certificate is mandatory for admission to this board.
(ii) Test reports of Covid sample given more than 72 hours prior to reporting at this board
will not be admissible.
(iii) COVID-19 Asymptomatic/ Negative Certificate from authorised laboratory / hospital
(Preferably RT-PCR /Rapid Antigen Test) will be considered valid for admission.
(v) Candidate may also show the soft copy of the Covid-19 negative report while reporting at
this board. This would cater for time delay in getting the test result and requirement to start your
journey to the SSB after giving the test.
(vi) Candidate should highlight the date of report and result of the Covid-19 test.
(vii) These regulations apply equally to all candidates. In case of any queries you may

5. Boarding and Lodging. Free boarding and lodging will be provided only to the candidate at the Board for the
period of testing.

6. Requisites. You are advised to bring the following items for the purpose of testing:-

(a) Dress for Testing.


(i) Group Test. One pair of White Shirt / T-Shirt, Shorts /Trouser / Track Suit, Socks and a pair of
sports shoes. Women candidates may bring dark coloured shorts/trousers/track pants/salwar suit.
Candidates are advised to carry adequate clothing to cater for weather conditions and restricted laundry
services.
(ii) Interview. Two pairs of formal dress (plain light coloured shirt with or without tie, dark colour
trousers, and formal shoes with laces). For women candidates, any formal dress would do.
(iii) Mess Premises. Formal dress.
(iv) Liberty (going out of the premises of AFSB) Candidates will not be allowed to go out of the Board
premises for their entire period of stay.
(b) Adequate writing material (Pens and lead pencils)
(c) You are advised to carry preferably one luggage which should be a hard shell suitcase to facilitate
sanitization. The same needs to be properly tagged for easy identification.
(d) Note for Interview. All candidates are to prepare a separate folder for interview, neatly marked
with name and roll number, comprising of all original educational certificates, mark sheets, certificates of
excellence and achievement in co/extra- curricular activities or any other documents deemed fit by the
candidates for interview.
7. Travelling Allowance (TA). Traveling Allowance by the shortest route for AC-III tier Mail/Express Trains to and fro
for the journey from the place of Call Up or departure (whichever is nearer is admissible). You have to furnish the
hardcopy of railway ticket/bus ticket/ air ticket (along with boarding pass) to the Board, failing which no TA will be
paid. The amount of TA shall be restricted to the maximum authorised by the Govt. rules or the actual amount paid on
journey, whichever is less. TA is admissible as per the existing Govt. TA rules. No TA is admissible, if you have already
appeared for the same type of entry at any of the Selection Boards. No TA will be paid for journey performed by private
mode of transport, buses other than those run by Govt. Transport Department. Hard copy of Railway / Bus Tickets and a
cancelled cheque/photocopy of first page of bank passbook with details of account, IFSC Code are the mandatory
requirements for TA payment. The bank account should be in the name of the candidate only.
Note. TA payment will not be made in cash. TA of eligible candidates will be paid into their bank account through electronic
transfer only.
8. Medical Examination. Recommended candidates will be required to proceed to Air Force Central Medical
Establishment, New Delhi or Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore for medical examination for duration of four to
seven days. This duration may vary to cater for the quarantine requirement prevailing at that time. It may be noted that the
Air Force Medical Board/Services Medical Board is the final authority while deciding the medical fitness for joining the Indian
Air Force. You are required to see the details about Medical Standards on our website, www.afcat.cdac.in. In case of
not meeting the eligibility criteria as given in the advertisement/website, you shall be returned from the Selection
Board without testing and reimbursement of TA.
9. Discipline. Your conduct and behaviour during your stay at the Board is expected to be disciplined and orderly. Any
act of indiscipline or misconduct will lead to cancellation of your candidature. In all matters pertaining to indiscipline and/ or
misconduct, the decision of the President of the Board shall be final and no appeal against his decision will be entertained.
Should you try and influence any member of the Board directly or indirectly, your candidature will be cancelled.
10. General. No facility exists at AFSBs for safe custody of cash and valuables. Therefore, do not bring any valuables
or excess money. Candidates are not permitted to carry their mobile phones, laptops, cameras or any other
electronic gadgets inside the Selection Board premises. If brought the same would be deposited on Day 1 and
returned during departure. If found in possession of prohibited items mentioned above during your stay, your
candidature will be cancelled and you shall be returned without further testing. You are advised to plan your arrival
well in time catering for the late arrival of train/bus in this zone. Candidates reporting late will not be accepted for
testing.
11. Queries. In case of any query, contact concerned AFSB. The telephone number and e-mail address is
mentioned on the first page of Call Letter. All correspondence (preferably e-mail) with regard to this Call Letter should be
addressed to the President of the Board giving full details, including AFCAT No, Name, Date of Birth and Date of Reporting.
A softcopy of the first page of the call letter is also to be attached. Queries, if any, will be entertained on telephone between
0700h to 14000h from Tuesday to Friday and also on our e-mail.
12. Physical Fitness. You are to be physically fit when you report for SSB. It is recommended that you start with
physical fitness regime to be able to undergo tests at AFSBs. Do not report to the Board for SSB if you do not meet the
height requirement as specified in the notification.
13. These instructions are general in nature. The instructions contained in the Advertisement for your course and Call
Letter will be binding in determining your eligibility for test and interview for which this Call Letter is issued. In all matters, the
decision of Air Force Authority shall be final.

15. Warning. You should withhold your move,

(a) If you have any relative, who is posted at this Board, withhold your move and inform us the particulars
of the person concerned immediately and await further instructions.
(b) In case you have fever, cough, cold or COVID-19 positive report or any issues related to breathing
contact your respective AFSBs for further instructions. You have to mandatorily bring along with you the
COVID-19 Asymptomatic/ Negative Certificate from authorised laboratory / hospital (Preferably RT-
PCR /Rapid Antigen Test). You have to bring COVID-19 undertaking attached with this call letter also. In
addition, the responsibility of meeting the state quarantine requirements/ registration on state e-portal
is of the candidate. Please plan your arrival and departure accordingly. No change of date for SSB would
be entertained.
(c) If at any point of time (after screen in, after recommendation by SSB and before the preparation of
merit list for the entry) it is found that you do not posses or not able to produce the documents required for
verifying your eligibility for the entry, your candidature would be forfeited.

Stage-II stay at AFSB.

ADVISORY FOR COVID-19

1. Do not travel and report to AFSB, if you have any of the following:-
(a) Fever, cough, cold, breathing problem etc.
(b) In case of recent international travel history or travel to any covid hot spots or a
resident of any covid hotspot.
2. Please carry adequate quantity of personal protective gear like mask, face shield,
gloves and hand sanitizer for your duration of testing.

3. You have to mandatorily download AROGYA SETU app in your personal mobile at
least 14 days before your date of reporting/ receipt of call letter, the safe status will be
checked at the time of reception.

4. Please strictly abide by all the DO’S and DONT’S of COVID-19 advisories issued by
Govt of India. Adhere to all the social distancing norms while travelling.
