HRM 3003 Performance Management

Assessment 4A/4B - Group Report (10%) and Presentation (20%)

Learning Outcomes:

CLO1 Analyse the purpose and impact of the performance management framework on the Organisational strategy.
CLO2 Analyse the reasons for under-performance of employees.
CLO3 Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, rewards and incentives to improve performance.
CLO4 Assess the design and the efficiency of traditional and contemporary performance management methods and systems.
CLO5 Recommend performance management tools for specific positions.

Assignment Instructions:

You are required to work in a group of 4 students to complete this group report and presentation. The presentation will be developed by using Weebly, Bitrix 24,
Wix or any other suitable software. For the HR specifics and Job Description students will use O*Net, OrangeHR, 7Geese software.

PART 4 A: Group Report (100 marks)

Students will select a private company of their choice and will develop a comprehensive performance management process including: organisation mission,
vision, and goals, one specific department goals, job description for a specific position, individual performance goals, and actual performance appraisal form. The
appraisal will include job related and competency factors which will be assigned adequate weight. The report should provide a comprehensive rationale of the
link between the company’s strategic goals and individual’s goals. For this project students will interview a HR Manager of a private company and research about
the PM process and Performance Appraisal on CIPD and SHRM web sites. Based on the information collected, students will develop a PM process for their own
fictional company.
Report Framework:

You should include a title page with Student names, Student IDs and the course number and course title. (1 mark)
Provide a Table of Contents. (2 marks)

1. Introduction of the company and the company’s mission, vision

3. Flow chart of the Performance Management process in the company.
4. Specific department overview.
5. Job description for a specific position within the department with 5 job tasks and responsibilities, and 5 competencies (use O*Net, OrangeHR, Gulf
Talent, LinkedIn)
6. Purpose of the Performance Management appraisal.
7. Evaluation Criteria (ratings)
8. Performance Appraisal Form Template (in Excel or Word) including the following sections:
 5 Job Objectives
 5 Job Competencies
 Summary of results
 Recommendations for professional development
 Comments by employee
 Signatures of employee and evaluator
9. Outcomes: distribution of rewards according to the ratings and company’s strategy (e.g., for overall performance appraisal results of 3 employee will
receive 1,000 Dhs bonus or merit pay)

 You are required to read and understand instructions carefully.


 Font style is Times New Roman, font size is 12; 1.5 space between lines; Number all pages sequentially. Should use headings. For the main headings use
Bold, and Italics for the sub-subheadings
 Any published material you refer should be properly referenced by including in text citations & reference list at the end of your assignment. Use APA
referencing style.
 Safe Assign should not more than 15%.
PART 4 B: Group Presentation (100 marks)

Students will select a private company of their choice and will develop a comprehensive performance management process including: organisation mission,
vision, and goals, job description for a specific position, individual performance goals, and actual performance appraisal form. The appraisal will include job
related and competency factors which will be assigned adequate weight. Students can also use the existing performance management tools templates, or
research and customise other existing performance appraisal templates. The presentation will be developed by using Weebly, Bitrix 24, Wix or any other suitable
software. For the HR specifics and Job Description students will use O*Net, OrangeHR, 7Geese software.

The web developed performance management site will include the following:

1. Introduction of the company and the company’s mission, vision, and goals
2. Objectives of the Performance Management process.
3. Flow chart of the Performance Management process.
4. Specific department overview.
5. Job description for a specific position within the department with 5 job tasks and responsibilities, and 5 competencies (use O*Net, OrangeHR, Gulf

Expectations of the Team:

 Teams consist of 4 members.


 You must research a company NOT chosen by another team in your class.
 Group presentation duration will be between 12 min and 15 min
 The team will decide fairly the allocated presentation speaking times per team member. All team members must present.
 You must submit a bibliography of external resources that you have used in the presentation (if required)
 Use concise and correct English vocabulary and grammar.
 Follow the attached marking scheme to complete all sections of the report and presentation.

PLAGIARISM
Students must submit their own works as assignments, and they cannot submit anybody’s ideas into their work as their own. Direct reference must be made for
every paragraph, even if it is only a summary of ideas from somewhere else. By using improper referencing Students commit plagiarism, i.e. submitting
somebody else’s work as their own, and face the possibility of immediate dismissal from DWC and all HCT colleges. Projects must only be submitted
electronically, and they must have a report attached to them from the SafeAssign plagiarism checking software.
 Please learn how to use SafeAssign, and printed projects are not accepted in the Business Department
 Presenting somebody else’s work as your own work is a serious academic offence and may results in immediate dismissal from DWC, HCT, and all
Federal Universities.
