3rd International Conference on Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI 2020)
Yogyakarta – Indonesia
05 - 06 October 2020
PREFACE
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome all participants, from abroad
and within Indonesia, to participate in the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Infrastructure
(ICSI 2020). This Conference is organized by Department of Civil Engineering and Planning, Faculty
of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University in order to respond the latest infrastructure-related
developments, both nationally and globally.
Due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, ICSI 2020 is held virtually on the 5th of October 2020.
However, we are hoping that its aims to provide a platform for sharing of knowledge and ideas among
practitioners, researchers and scientists from both the academia and the industry remains the same.
The infrastructure we are building today will shape tomorrow’s communities. Sustainable infrastructure
refers to the designing, building, and operating of these structural elements in ways that do not diminish
the social, economic and ecological processes required to maintain human equity, diversity, and the
functionality of natural systems. Despite some progress, most developing countries still suffer from
insufficient infrastructure access, quality and reliability.
This Conference is focusing on sustainability in the built environment, presenting relevant engineering
research, ideas, demonstrations, and applications that contribute to the competitiveness and human well-
being. It will provide a showcase for the latest developments and advancements in all aspects of
planning, design, construction, technology, policy and education related to sustainable infrastructure
and also offers a forum to discuss and debate future directions for the 21st Century.
In order to have higher impact, the Organizing Committee also invited speakers from highly reputable
international universities to share new ideas, latest developments and advancements in all aspects of
planning, design, construction technology, and policy related to sustainable infrastructure. The
Organizing Committee invited: Wikan Sakarinto, Ph.D., Director General of Vocational Education,
Ministry of Education and Culture-Republic of Indonesia; Prof. Atsushi Fukuda, Department of
Transportation Systems Engineering, Nihon University – Japan; and Prof. Ts. Dr. Salwani Mohd Daud,
Advanced Informatics School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia – Malaysia.
We would like to warmly thank all the authors who, with their presentations and papers, generously
contributed to the lively exchange of scientific information that is so vital to the endurance of scientific
conferences of this kind. We wish you a successful and enlightening conference.

Abstract. Buildings which were well-planned and well-built often have problems with the
structure after they are being functioned. Structural problems are related to damage and failure
of the buildings. Some methods have been commonly applied to enhance the capacity of a
building structure through strengthening and repair by enlarging the dimensions of the structure,
reinforcing it using steel plates, applying external prestressing and carbon fiber reinforced
polymer (CFRP). CFRP has been known as an alternative material for reinforcing building
structures. Unfortunately, debonding failure often occurs in the use of CFRP unless special
treatment is applied for more optimal reinforcement capability. This experimental study, CFRP
with anchor system made of CFRP was applied in concrete reinforcement. The anchor system
was intended to address debonding problems found in concrete structure reinforced using CFRP.
This experimental laboratory study was done through a series of scientific procedures to explain
the problems and propose proper solution. The test object in this study was a beam of 150 mm x
200 mm x 3200 mm size with a third point load. The variables in this study were different
distances between anchors at 0.000 mm, 1200 mm, 800 mm, 400 mm, 200 mm. The results
showed that CFRP anchor applied within a distance of 1200 mm successfully increased the
maximum strength capacity by 28.764% and the stiffness at the time of the first crack increased
by 23.966% compared to the non-reinforced beam. The use of anchor solved debonding
problems regarding the use of CFRP. The use of CFRP anchors within 1200 mm distance was
found as the most effective method in the use of anchors.
Keywords: Building Structure, Reinforcement, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer, CFRP
Anchor.
