Stability is a very significant part of the landfill design, especially in a multilayered final
cover. Slope failure of landfill can occur during the construction of landfill, during filling or
after closure of the landfill. Most landfill failures have occurred in slopes of waste, and in
interfaces between geosynthetic-geosynthetic and soil-geosynthetic materials. Landfill
failures can have disastrous result including loss of life, damage to property, and pollution of
the surrounding environment, surface, and groundwater. Therefore, the stability of landfill
must be dealt with very carefully to know how safe a landfill is or how hazardous a landfill
is.
2- METHODOLOGY

As a second step we implemented the geotechnical data that we were given in the table
below. In different sections of the landfill, we have different materials such as subsoil,
embankment, waste etc. By using the given properties, we implemented the unit weights,
shear strength angles, cohesion values for each of the materials.

4- CONCLUSION
Landfill analysis conducted using the slice method provides valuable insights into the
composition and stratification of waste deposits over different depths. By systematically
examining layers, we can discern variations in material types, decomposition rates, and
potential environmental impact. This method facilitates a comprehensive understanding of
the long-term consequences of landfill sites, aiding in the development of effective waste
management strategies and environmental mitigation measures. The slice approach enhances
precision and depth of analysis, enabling policymakers and environmentalists to make
informed decisions for sustainable waste disposal practices.
