•A flowchart is a graphical
representation of an algorithm to
solve a particular problem.
• This is used to illustrate a process in
sequential order. Flowcharts are
used for different purposes, it can be
used to show a manufacturing
process, a service process, or a
project plan
Oval • First and Last shape of a
flowchart.
• This is used to represent the
start and the end of a process.

Parallelogram • Used to represent an Input/


output of data.
• Processing
Rectangle • This is used to represent a step
in the process. It can be used
to represent simple tasks or
actions in the process.

• Also known as “Flowlines”


• used to indicate the flow of the
Arrow process. It is used to tell what the
next
• Different types of arrows used in a
flowchart: dashed, solid, or dotted
step.
• Commonly used is solid arrow.
Diamond • Decision to be made
• This is used to indicate a decision
in a process. This requires a user to
answer a question, the next step
will be based on what the answer to
that question is.
