Revision: Conversion of Measurements

Find the equivalent measures. Write the correct answers on the lines provided.

1. Express 98 l 200 ml as a decimal in litres.

2. Express 37 kg 35 g as a decimal in kilograms.

3. Express 528 l 5 ml as a decimal in litres.

4. Express 127 m 33 cm as a decimal in metres.

5. Express 580 km 600 m as a decimal in kilometres.

580 + 0.6 = 580.6 km 127 + 0.33 = 127.33 m 528 + 0.005 = 528.005 l 37 + 0.035 = 37.035 kg 98 + 0.2 = 98.2 l
5. 600 ÷ 1000 = 0.6 km 4. 33 ÷ 100 = 0.33 m 3. 5 ÷ 1000 = 0.005 l 2. 35 ÷ 1000 = 0.035 kg Solutions: 1. 200 ÷ 1000 = 0.2 l

Revision: Conversion of Measurements

Do these word problems. Show your working clearly in the space provided.

1. Sue uses 195 cm of ribbon to make 13 identical bookmarks. Find the length of ribbon in
metres that she uses to make 175 such bookmarks.

2. A chef uses 175 g of flour to make a pizza.

(a) If he makes 255 such pizzas within 5 days, how many pizzas does the chef make in a
year? Assume the chef makes pizzas every day in a year.
(b) How many kilograms of flour does the chef need in a year?

The chef needs 3257.625 kg of flour in a year.

3 257 625 ÷ 1000 = 3257.625 kg 175 such bookmarks is 26.25 m.
18 615 × 175 = 3 257 625 g (b) The length of ribbon that she uses to make
The chef makes 18 615 pizzas in a year. 2625 ÷ 100 = 26.25 m
365 × 51 = 18 615 175 × 15 = 2625 cm
255 ÷ 5 = 51 2. (a) Solutions: 1. 195 ÷ 13 = 15

Revision: Average

Calculate the average of each of the following.

1. $3.50, $6.05 and $11

2. 0.75 kg, 1.4 kg, 3.36 kg, 9.6 kg and 21.09 kg

3. 15.5 l, 8.7 l, 5.3 l and 3.9 l

4. 48.7 km, 99.3 km and 132.5 km

5. 46 min, 52 min, 84 min, 93 min and 106 min

280.5 ÷ 3 = 93.5 km 36.2 ÷ 5 = 7.24 kg

4. 48.7 + 99.3 + 132.5 = 280.5 km 2. 0.75 + 1.4 + 3.36 + 9.6 + 21.09 = 36.2 kg
381 ÷ 5 = 76.2 min 33.4 ÷ 4 = 8.35 l $20.55 ÷ 3 = $6.85
5. 46 + 52 + 84 + 93 + 106 = 381 min 3. 15.5 + 8.7 + 5.3 + 3.9 = 33.4 l Solutions: 1. $3.50 + $6.05 + $11 = $20.55
