Subject – Regarding Marking Scheme

Sir
We the students of G B Pant DSEU Okhla 1 Campus pursuing B.Tech requests you to kindly change
our marking scheme from absolute marking scheme to combination of absolute and relative marking
just like colleges such as DTU, NSUT which also come under JAC Delhi Counselling same as DSEU.

As the average CGPA of B.Tech at G B Pant DSEU Okhla 1 Campus is around 5.5 to 6, a mixture of
absolute and relative will be highly beneficial in enhancing our CGPAs.

The following problems can be faced by students due to low CGPA:

1. Students won’t be eligible for various on and off campus job opportunities due to minimum
CGPA criteria set by companies.
2. Students won’t be able to go for high education such as MBA in IIMs which have a pointer
scale of graduation marks for admissions.
3. Students will miss job opportunities in PSUs as Maharatna Companies such as ONGC, SAIL,
BHEL have a minimum eligibility criteria of around 60-65% for job openings.

Also, the existing marking scheme holds marks for attendance under the scheme such as the student
maintaining a 100% attendance will only get 10 marks and a student who maintains 75% attendance
which is the minimum criteria will be rewarded 0 marks. Maintaining 100% attendance is not
possible for students as they travel to college from far away distances due to non-availability of
hostels in the campus, also students are engaged in societies such as Buniyaad for which they have to
skip classes to participate in various competitions etc.

Thereby, we request you to kindly revoke the attendance policy or at least provide a suitable scheme
such as rewarding 1 mark for every 10% attendance.

Under the new marking policy, courses in which number of students are beyond 100 are only eligible
for relative marking but number of students in each course is less than 100 at our campus, but due to
the above stated reasons, we request you to kindly convert the marking scheme to combination of
absolute and relative.

Hoping for a positive action on this soon.

Thanking You

G B Pant DSEU Okhla 1 Campus Students
