Question 1: When can a student repeat her end semester theory examination?

Answer: A student can repeat the end semester theory examination without registering for
seeking improvement in grades if she is certain that her unsatisfactory grades are solely
attributed to the theory examination and not influenced by Internal Assessment (IA) or
Continuous Assessment (CA) grades. After improvement, the higher grade will apply.

Question 2: Is it necessary to carry forward IA/CA marks for the improvement examination?

Answer: If a student opts for improvement in the theory paper, the IA/CA marks will not
change and will be carried forward.

Question 3: When is it possible to improve in IA/CA?

Answer: IA/CA marks can only be changed through re-registration in the respective papers
and then reappearing for all components of the paper, including theory, IA, and CA. This can
happen under two circumstances: 1. When a student is satisfied with CA but wants to improve
on theory + IA. 2. When a student finds the CA marks unsatisfactory, the whole paper has to
be reappeared for. It's clear that IA and CA marks cannot be changed unless the whole paper,
including the theory component, is repeated.

Question 4: What is the difference between improvement and reappearance?

Answer: Improvement solely involves changing the theory component marks for the better by
repeating the end semester examination for that paper in the consecutive even/odd semester. In
this case, IA/CA marks will remain unchanged. Reappearance in the examination requires re-
registration for the said paper. In this, the student will be able to sit for the end semester theory
component as well as obtain changed scores for IA and CA. For these repeaters, the students
will have to re-register for the paper in which they will reappear, and the concerned teacher
will have to maintain all records for these students as for other regular students.

Question 5: Which score will remain valid?

Answer: For reappearance through re-registration, the repeat score will be valid. For
improvement, it will be the higher grade.

Student will have to sign the copy of the finally submitted Internal Assessment marks that have
been uploaded on the Samarth Portal. This will be facilitated by the office. This is over and above
the confirmation the teachers take after displaying the IA marks.

CA - Continuous Assessment (including Practicals)

IA - Internal Assessment
