Overview
This document provides operating instructions for the ALPHA2™
Pro Series™ V32 (AP-1V32, V32 indicates a 32 inch flat panel
display in the main cabinet).
Your machine displays only the features supported by your
software version, jurisdiction, and machine configuration. All
features do not display on every machine. If any feature does not
apply to your machine, then go to the next section.
CAUTION This document may describe procedures for
equipment that does not apply to all cabinet
configurations, or that may require additional
components. Each regulatory jurisdiction may
have controls, policies, and procedures that you
must follow. You are responsible for
understanding and abiding by the rules that apply
in your environment.
Prerequisites
This installation may require the following additional parts, tools,
and manuals:
• Locks (quantity 5 to 9, depending on your machine
configuration)
• Category 5 network cables (quantity and length depending
on your machine configuration and your floor plan layout)
• Tools for locks
• 22 mm (7/8 inch), 11 mm (7/16 inch), and 10 mm (0.39 inch)
socket or wrench
• Alpha Game Platform™ Software Setup Field Guide for your
machine operating system software version
• Parts manual for your machine

Unpacking and Inspecting the Machine

STEP 1. Remove any plastic packaging.
STEP 2. Verify that the serial numbers on the cabinet match
the shipping documents associated with the
installation.
CAUTION All serial numbers must match the shipping
documents that are associated with the
installation. Never remove serial numbers from
any Bally equipment.
STEP 3. Inspect the cabinet for any shipping damage, such as

broken glass, dents, or scratches.
STEP 4. Unpack and remove all loose parts from any boxes or
bags, containing cables, lock cams, and mounting
hardware.
STEP 5. Remove all plastic or paper packing materials from
any interior assemblies, such as a printer.
STEP 6. Inspect the interior cables and ensure a firm
connection.
STEP 7. Inspect the circuit board assemblies for loose
connections.
TIP During shipping, cables may become disconnected
and circuit boards may become unseated. Ensure
they are firmly attached before proceeding.
STEP 8. Locate and open the logic door.

STEP 9. Reseat or insert the flash media in the sockets.
NOTE
The flash media may be shipped separately,
depending upon the jurisdiction.
If there is any damage to the machine or if any parts are missing,

then contact the Bally Technologies Distributor or Customer
Service Representative for Return Merchandise Authorization
(RMA) information.
CAUTION If a new machine is damaged and awaiting
replacement parts, then do not remove any
existing parts from it for use in another machine.

TIP: To avoid delays, purchase machine locks well before the

planned installation date. Purchase several spare machine locks
from your lock manufacturer and keep them available. If
necessary, use a 1.6 mm lock spacer (200455) or a 28.6 mm lock
and 12.7 mm spacer (202035-00003 and S-00231-984). See your
Parts manual for additional lock and cam information.

Opening and Closing Doors

Use the following instructions to ensure safe and correct
operation of door equipment:
• Secure doors with locks installed according to instructions
from the lock manufacturer.
• Inspect door latches, brackets, pins, hinges, and gas springs
(if applicable) for wear or damage, and replace, if necessary.
• When opening and closing doors, always hold or support
doors and use the provided latch release mechanisms,
handles, or knobs.
• When closing doors, always ensure the door frame areas are
free of foreign objects and the door closes and latches
securely. Do not apply excessive force.
• To avoid damaging latches when closing, always use the
door handles or knobs to hold latches in the open position,
close the door, and then release the handle or knob gently.

Middle Door
STEP 1. To open the middle door, unlock the middle door lock
under the left front of the bolster.
STEP 2. Hold the middle door firmly.
CAUTION
This door rises automatically on gas springs. To
prevent injury or damage, hold the door firmly.
STEP 3. Press the middle door latch release firmly (the casing
covering the locks).
STEP 4. Continue holding the middle door, while the gas
springs automatically raise the door slowly.
STEP 5. To close the middle door, press gently on the middle
door until the door connects to the cabinet frame
securely.

Belly Door
STEP 1. To open the belly door, unlock the belly door lock
under the right front of the bolster.
STEP 2. Hold the belly door firmly.
CAUTION
This door opens downward. To prevent injury or
damage, hold the door firmly.
STEP 3. Gently lower the belly door assembly.

STEP 4. To close the belly door, raise the door until it connects
to the cabinet frame securely.

STEP 1. To open the belly door while the middle door is open,
press the belly door latch button (yellow) to the right.

cabinet interior.

Deck Access Door

NOTE In this machine, note that the machine software
identifies the switch actuated by and located
under this security panel as the main door switch.
STEP 1. To open the deck access door, while the middle door
and belly door are open pull the release handle
(yellow) at the left side of the cabinet interior.

Security Panel Access for Panels without Hinges

STEP 1. To open the security panel, loosen the thumbscrew at
the top center of the security panel, lift the security
panel to unhook it from the bottom rail of the cabinet,
and lower the security panel through the belly door
area.

Do not pinch or damage the cables.
STEP 2. To close the security panel, route any cables where

they will not be pinched, and insert the security panel
up into the cabinet from under the button deck area.
CAUTION To ensure wires and cables are not pinched,
abraded, or otherwise damaged, use care when
inserting and removing doors,
STEP 3. Lower the security panel onto the rail at the bottom of
the cabinet and tighten the thumb screw at the top
center of the security panel.

STEP 1. To open a hinged security panel, lift the plunger at the
top center of the security panel, and lower the security
panel downward.

STEP 2. To close the security panel, route any cables where

they will not be pinched, and lift the security panel up
into the cabinet from under the button deck area.
CAUTION To ensure wires and cables are not pinched,
abraded, or otherwise damaged, use care when

Installing the Machine

STEP 1. Ensure the new location has appropriate power and
network cabling installed.
NOTE
Changes in floor configuration may require
reinstalling power and network cables.
STEP 2. Use the instructions provided by the lock

manufacturer to install locks in appropriate areas.
(Machine configurations may vary.)
• top box door
• button deck
• external bill acceptor door
• bill acceptor cash box door
• bill acceptor cash box access door
• belly access door
• quick-drop door (if selected)
• logic door (CPU and flash media card)
STEP 3. If the tower light has been installed, then go to the
next step. If the tower light has not been installed,
then install the tower light.
NOTE
Tower lights are optional equipment.
STEP 4. Move the machine to the desired location, using a

lifting or moving device, such as a hand truck.
CAUTION The machines are heavy. To prevent injuries and
damage always wear a back brace, work with a
partner, and do not use the tower light to move
the machine. To move the machine easily over a
carpeted area, use a hand truck with solid tires, not
air-filled.

STEP 5. Place the machine at the desired location.

CAUTION
Ensure the sides and back of the cabinet are not
exposed or accessible by players.
• Do not place the machine on any wires or cables.

• For two or more cabinets, place cabinets side-by-
side or back-to-back.
• Example - For one cabinet, install against a wall or
in a corner.
• Example - For a single line of cabinets, install

against a wall.
• Example - For multiple, freestanding, even numbers

of cabinets not positioned against a wall, install
back-to-back.

STEP 6. Securely fasten the machine to the stand and, if

applicable, adjacent cabinet or wall.
CAUTION To prevent tipping, always secure the cabinet
firmly to the stand using the Cabinet Stand
Mounting Hardware Kit (205343).
STEP 7. Connect and route the power and network cables and
ensure they are not pinched, abraded, or otherwise
damaged.
• Route the power cable through a cut-out in the
base, at the left, right, or back of the machine as
appropriate for your floor plan layout.
• Open the cabinet door and verify that the power
and network cables are not pinched under the
machine or any neighboring machines.
STEP 8. Press the power switches to supply power to the
machine.
• Alpha 2 Machine Power Switches

DC cabinet components, not including the MPU

STEP 9. Setup and configure the software.

Messages similar to the following indicate a requirement for an

Attendant to release the lockup by turning a key in the audit key
switch.

STEP 2. Turn the audit key switch to reset the game.

depend upon the machine model specification,
added equipment and the jurisdiction. Note that
bill acceptor cash boxes may vary depending upon
the manufacturer and may include a cash box
release mechanism.
CAUTION
Complete your site’s procedures for accessing the
machine.
STEP 1. Open the belly door. See “Opening and Closing Doors”
on page 10.
STEP 2. Unlock and open the bill acceptor cash box door.
STEP 3. Remove the bill acceptor cash box from the machine.
STEP 4. Insert an empty bill acceptor cash box.
STEP 5. Close the bill acceptor cash box door and lock it.

machine model specification, added equipment,

Refilling the Hopper (If Applicable)

NOTE Hopper refill procedures depend upon the

CAUTION Complete your site’s procedures for accessing the

machine. Obtain appropriate coins and ensure the
coins match the machine’s coin configuration.
Do not damage the coin probe, dispensing
equipment, or hopper motors. Remove all foreign
objects such as coin wrappers and coins of
incorrect denominations. Do not exceed the
hopper fill level or coin capacity specified by the
hopper manufacturer. Over-filling may cause coins
to spill from the hopper bowl or damage the
hopper equipment.
STEP 1. Open the middle door.

STEP 2. Open the belly door and release the security panel.
STEP 3. Release the lower door assembly and slide out the
hopper access drawer. See “Opening and Closing
Doors” on page 10.
STEP 4. Put the coins in the hopper.
STEP 5. Slide in the hopper access drawer.
STEP 6. Close the security panel and belly door.
STEP 7. Close the middle door to place the machine into
service.
