years experience is Mr. Budi, so we believe our tour must be going safe and comfortable, and
our professional assistant driver is Mr. Bambang.
Guide: now L&G, now we are leaving from Juanda Airport and heading to your hotel. It is Four
Point Hotel, located on Embong Malang Streets no. 21 to 31. And it only takes about an hour to
reach your hotel

L&G, now i will tell you about your program during your stay in Surabaya. But before that, i will share
the tour itinerary to you.

Guide: Okay L&G, you will stay in Surabaya for 3D 2N. With the first day your only program to
deliver you in the hotel and free program. Following to the 2nd day, you will visit Heroes
Monument or Tugu Pahlawan, then you will go to Madura cross the Suramadu Bridge. You will
enjoy your lunch at the local resto and visit Madura Batik Shop. Also, you will visit Kenpark then
go back to the hotel after enjoy your dinner in there. In the 3rd day, your program is only
deliver you to the Airport.

Guide: But, do not worry please. I will give you a surprise destination for a warm farewell.

Guide: No? Ok well, now I want to tell that Indonesia has three different timezone; Eastern Time
Zone, Central Time Zone, and Western Time Zone. While Surabaya is located on the Western
part, So would you please adjust your watch into Surabaya Local Time, right now is 17.00 P.M.

Guide : L&G Indonesia currency is Rupiah, so have u converted your money from USD to IDR in
Airport?

Guide : Good. Right now the exchange rate of 1 USD is equal with about 16.000 Rupiah. we have 2
types first one is Coin, the lowest value is 100 Rupiah and the highest value is 1.000 Rupiah, and the
second one is Banknote, the lowest value is 1000 Rupiah, and the highest value is 100.000 Rupiah, with
only 46.000 or equal to 3 USD you can get complete meals at MCD. And you can buy snack in
the convenient store with only 1 USD.

Thats why you are so lucky to come to Indonesia, because everything is really cheap. And if you
give a tips to Porter, Waiter, or Housekeeper, you can give a tips from 10.000 Rupiah and
above.
Guide: Btw, have you ever visited Indonesia or Surabaya before?

Guide: Bali? Yeah, I know it's good for you to having sunbathe in there.

Guide: L&G Indonesia has tropical climate, so Indonesia only has 2 season such as dry season and rain
season. For dry season, it will happen from April until October and for rain season, it will happen from
October until April. So now we are in rain season. It is important for you to bring umbrella wherever you
go, using comfortable clothes, and you also can use sunblock, why? Because the temperature in
Surabaya is pretty unpredictable, it can be so shiny at a time, and just in moment it could turn to be a
cloudy day

There are also some suggestions for you:

1. Please use your right hands if you want to give/take something

2. Do not touch your opposite gender; if you want to high-five them, please ask for permission

3. Do not show much intimate and nudity in public

4. For your safety, please keep your important things in the bag

Because Indonesia has a lot of ethnicities, so we believe that we must united in one. And the
majority people in Indonesia are Muslim, so it is not rare to see women wear hijab like me now.

Now L&G, because your tour will be hold on Surabaya, I will explain you about this city. Surabaya is the
capital of the Indonesian province of East Java and the second-largest city in the country, after Jakarta.
The city has a population of over 3 million within its city limits and over 10 million in the Surabaya
metropolitan area, making it the second-largest metropolitan area in Indonesia. Surabaya is one of the
four main central cities of Indonesia, alongside Jakarta, Medan, and Makassar.

Now I want to tell about the etimology of Surabaya. But before that, I want to give all of you
something.

Guide : L&G, Surabaya was taken from the Javanese word, “sura ing baya”, meaning "bravely
facing danger". Another derivations about surabaya that i want to tell you is that Suroboyo was
taken from 2 words, Suro and Boyo. As you can see on the pin which is the logo of surabaya
city, there are 2 animals which fighting each others.

On the other side, this is the picture of heroes monument, our first destination we will visit
tomorrow.

Guide: It was built in memories to remember those heroes that fought, defending the
independence of Indonesia back then at November 10, 1945. Especially in the Tunjungan
Street, which is nearby your hotel. There is one object had become silent witness, which is
Hotel Majapahit.

Guide: Near by the Heroes Monument, there is an old village or Kampung, it is Kampung Lawas
Maspati that built in the 1907. Inside of it, there once a famous school named Tweede
Inlandsche School in Dutch or Sekolah Ongkoloro, this is a number two school on what basis is it
called second? Because this school is for Indonesian people who want to study. In Heroes
Monument, we can learn more history about Surabaya.

Guide: That's why Surabaya is famous to known as the Heroes City.

Guide: Well L&G, you can flip your keychain, there is a picture too. That is some of famous
destinations in Surabaya. For mine, it is De Javanesch Bank.

Guide: Besides of the history, Surabaya also have traditional food like Rujak Cingur and
Semanggi. Do you know semanggi? Technically it is clover leaves in which has the philosophy of
bringing luck.

Tourist: "Clover? You eat that?"

Guide: Yeah,, it is very delicious. And I suggest you to try it.

For the snack, (showing kerupuk teripang) this is called Kerupuk Teripang. If you wonder what
teripang is, it's a sea cucumber. And I will give you a try.
Guide: "Sea cucumber? Wow..."

Guide: So, how is the taste? Savory? Crispy? Well, it is famous in the Kenjeran area. Also, we
have Lorjuk which is made from razor clam or kerang bambu. Because tomorrow we will be at
Kenpark, you can buy it some there.

Guide: Well L&G, besides of the history and the foods. Surabaya also has its own dialect which
is a little different compare to Javanese language. It contains directness. For example, if you
want to say "How are you?" we say it "Yak opo kabare, rek?".

And if you want to answer it, "I'm fine." just say it, "Apik-apik ae."

Guide: Now let's try together, yak opo kabare, rek?

"Apik-apik ae."

Guide: Really great.

Rek is like a "bro" but it's contain equality, so you can use it to a woman or man.

Today, we will visit Balai Pemuda. Did anyone know what Balai Pemuda is?

Tourist: No

Guide: Alright, so Balai Pemuda is the center square of Surabaya. Back then, it was built on
1907 for the elite people under the name of Simpangsche Societit. But now, Balai Pemuda has
become the most visit spot after Tugu Pahlawan or any other famous destinations.

Guide: We will take photos there, and I will give you 45 minutes to explore. FYI, in the
basement there are gallery art and photos of Balai Pemuda and Surabaya time after time. Make
sure you don't miss to take photos there.

Guide: Alright L&G, now we are arrive at Balai Pemuda. You may leave the bus, mind your head
and watch your step.
