a. obtain work instruction in accordance with standard operating
procedure,
b. check the received materials against workplace standards and
specification,
c. identify and isolate faulty materials related to work,
d. record and/or report defects and any identified causes to the
supervisor concerned in accordance with workplace procedures;
and,
e. replace faulty materials in accordance with workplace procedures.

groups. The instruction of the game is
each team will be holding a paper. I

and the team who guess the top
answer will get the higher score. Do

Ma’am I have received an item which is
broken. I expected on the quality but the
item is already damage when I opened
it. I gave the seller a 2 out of 5 stars but
she asked me to change it because it
can affect their business. I gave her a
last chance and forget about the item
because as expected, it is still okay for
its cheap price.

What a sad experience. By the way,

I have received an open packaging, in


order for me to have a proof, I recorded
the item the whole time. In case the
item was damaged, I have the proof so
that the seller will believe in me and can
refund my payment.

One of my orders was missing, I


opened the parcel but I didn’t take a
video like what Jane did but I contacted
the seller to tell her wat happened and
she check their monitor and she found
out that she didn’t put one item. We

about applying quality standard. When
you hear the word quality, what comes

Ma’am quality is the degree or entity like
products that satisfies a specified set of
attributes or requirements.

Very Good, So the Quality is feature of


the product that we buy. So, when we
buy products, we must know the
material properties. These are the
factors that must be taken into
consideration when choosing the right
material for their components and
assemblies:

First is the Selection of Materials,


second is testing of Materials and third
is Cost of Material.

When you are buying some products,


are you the kind of person who select
or choose properly the products before
buying? (Ms. Sheena raised her hand)

For me ma’am, it’s a yes because I will


look first if the product has a default or if
it is defected and also in the brand of
the product.
Yes, that is right. When we buy
products, we are applying the
Selection of Materials. Material
selection is one of the most common
tasks for design engineering. The
ability to assess the material’s impact
on the performance of a product is
crucial for reliable performance.

Before we buy a product class, like


Laptop, Cellphone, or any gadgets.
What do we do sometimes?
Ma’am we first test the product if it is
working.

That’s correct. When we buy


materials, we must Test it. The testing
of material properties is widely
understood to be the key to obtaining
data for a project, performing failure
analysis, or understanding material
interactions. Material testing also
provides information on the quality of
incoming and outgoing products.

We must also consider the price of the


products if we buy. So, Class when
you buy products what do you prefer?
A product that is expensive or cheap?

Ma’am I prefer the cheap products,
because I can save more money. Like
example instead of buying Uniqlo t-shirt
I will just buy t-shirt from ukay because
there are still branded clothes from

good quality. Like example in buying a
gadget, the higher price, the higher
quality.

The cost of material is also considered
when buying or selecting materials for
a specific project. The amount may
vary but never taken for granted the
quality and the reliability of the
material.

We must also consider the


characteristic of the materials to be

and be reported to monitor how many
materials are already on hand,
purchased or damaged.

mini simulation. I will divide the class

play the role of a Quality Checker. You

the materials purchased, quantity, and
official receipt number, signature of
the person who bought the materials
and signed his name afterwards. You
will identify if the materials are in good
condition or damaged and/or needs
replacement. This will also be
recorded on the report.

Instructions: 1. I will serve as the


assessor in this activity.
