Purpose of Interest in higher studies

Discovering science of the things has been my passion since childhood. Breaking toys became a practice, just
out of curiosity, to see how the motors are connected to wheels that drive the car, and what the magic of
spiral strip is when I screw it with the key, it possesses potential to run the wheels. And I used to make fans
from motors taken out of broken toys, by attaching paper blades to the pinion of motor. I took keen interest
in learning the subject of science, and I found it greatly admiring to be among top 5 students of my class at
school since junior classes. Same passion and curiosity continued in the college, and my interest in physics
and chemistry was increased greatly, especially in lab experiments. Since, the craze of exploring mechanisms
and processes involved in machines and engines fascinated me to choose mechanical engineering as my
future career.

Projects have been a great interest to me during my engineering studies, because I believe in practical
scenario of the knowledge. I worked as team leader in a project of designing and fabrication of RC plane,
which can fly with taking up payload of 6lbs. And I participated as pilot member of my team in a national
competition, 7th Design Build & Fly Competition, held at GIKI, Sawabi, Pakistan in April 2012. Besides this,
I worked as an active group member in another mini project of my third year of engineering, that was
fabrication of Tesla turbine; a small hydraulic turbine that was running on the stream of sewage water.

During my studies, I have shown my interest in renewable energy and sustainable development with special
focus on utilization of solar energy. I presented a review paper entitled “Solar Thermal Energy Storage in
Molten Salts, mixture of sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate, and as hydro stored energy” as a first
author, in “2nd International Conference on Energy Environment & Sustainable Development” held in 2012
at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan. In this paper the importance and a method of
solar energy storage is discussed which can be used to run turbine during the hours when sunlight is not
available, such as in night.

During my university life, apart from studies, I volunteered in organizing events, worked as student member
and class representative of ASME MUET chapter. Organizing intra-university quiz competition and edible
cars competition polished my communication skills as well as increased my stamina to work hard and
précised with the team members belonging to any culture. Besides this, I find myself opportune to work for
welfare of the society. Since my school days, I used to work with a team for collecting food and consumable
items from my class for the victims of massive earthquake of Pakistan in 2005, flood relief camps in 2010. I
also visited Mithi district Tharparkar with a bunch of my friends to deliver food and clothes to affected
people.

I find myself lucky to get a job in campus recruitment just after completing my graduation in mechanical
engineering from Mehran UET, Jamshoro, in January 2013. I served Dawlance Pvt. Ltd. for 1 year and 7
months as Quality Control Engineer. I was very motivated and passionate during my first ever job. But as
everyone aims to go higher on his career path, so I decided to go for higher studies. I feel lucky to get an
opportunity of teaching assistantship along with my post graduate studies at Mehran UET. I have started my
first semester of M.E in Energy Systems Engineering.

Owing to limited resources in Pakistan, it seems challenging to accomplish my targeted goals in a competent
way. HEC MS Leading to PhD Program is something that makes me envisioned and passionate in my future
accomplishments for two reasons. First, I see myself researching in the field of Renewable Energy,
particularly use of nanotechnology in the sector of solar energy. Second is to serve my country in the field of
renewable energy by exploring more effective ways of utilizing these eco-friendly resources. Pertaining to
such qualities of maturity and determination towards making the most out of this scholarship benefits, I
perceive myself a strong candidate for this opportunity.
