Real Numbers
These are numbers used in everyday life to describe quantities such as age,
miles per gallon, and population.

Real numbers are represented by symbols such as

Decimals

It can be represented by a real number, either rational or irrational, and every

real number may be represented by a decimal.

Approximation
Using the symbol ≈ which means “is approximately equal to”.

Additional information

Other ways for a number or fraction to be considered as a natural number

If the numerator is a natural number and if the denominator is one, then it is

obviously equal to a natural number. Example:

If the fraction can be reduced to an equivalent fraction, this means that the
numerator is multiple of the denominator. Then, the numerator (x) is a
natural number and if the denominator (y) is one, then it is a natural number.
Example:

Additional information

Other ways for a number or fraction to be considered as a natural number

Consider that n is a natural number and it is equal to square of k:

This means that n is a perfect square and 𝑘 2 is a natural number as well.

However, note that 𝑛 also results to ± integer.
