WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS OF THIS COURSE?

(Please comment on anything concerning the course, instructor, content, technology, personal issues, etc...)

The videos are really helpful and aid in the studying of the accounting material.

Instructor is very fast at replying to questions and comments. Course materials are plentiful and easy to find
in the class page.

By far the strengths are the lecture videos!!!!!

the instructor Mr. Kamida is very knowledgeable and very helpful and prompt to answer your email

It is flexible with my schedule.

Mr. Kamida answers all my questions promptly.

Being a first time student and not attending school for many years, I wasn't really sure what to expect. This
is an excellent class with an excellent instructor. Kamida keeps students apprised of what he expects and
his lecture videos are very educational and easy to understand.

The instructor offers numerous resources to help students fully understand the content of their weekly
assignments. I also appreciate the numerous extra credit opportunities.

The online lecture videos. They are in depth and help people like me who have trouble focusing on reading
the book.
The instructor is very thorough in his presentations.

The instructor is well-prepared, current in his knowledge of tax laws, and familiar with the digital tools that
make the course feel personal.

The tax preparation course is a difficult course to take online, however Kamida has included every resource
possible. Kamida is the most actively involved instructor online that I've encountered.

This course is very easy to understand. Mr. Kamida gives easy to read instructions, so doing homework,
exams, etc... is no problem at all. I have learned a lot so far!

easy to learn

Laulima.

We are fortunate to have many strengths for this course. One very important one is that the instructor has
provided many resources for the students such as informative video lectures, handouts, and links to the
publisher's website that provide us with learning tools such as quizzes and powerpoint presentations.
Another extremely important strength of this course is that the instructor is very timely when responding to
email questions from the students. The instructor always takes the time to answer any questions the
students have--even if it pertains to personal issues and goes beyond the scope of the course material. I find
it very helpful to read these postings in the announcement section so we can all learn from these questions.
I appreciate the time the instructor has taken in designing the Laulima course so that students can easily
navigate to various links for helpful information. The instructor provides helpful reminders and it is
obvious that he wants everyone to do well in this class.

detailed videos to present information, quick responses when replying to e-mails and also with grading.

Mr Kamida's videos are vey helpful. The chapter videos are explained well because he makes notes as he
explains each slide. The same for the videos for the different problems. It's almost like sitting in a classroom.

The instructor knows a lot about the course. Video lectures helps more to understand each chapter. Extra
credits are not just adds on points but also informative.
The hands-on approach using software. The book's layout is also good. And, Laulima is pretty easy to use.

One of the strengths of this course is the instructor. This is my first time that I have Mr. Kamida as an
Instructor, and I feel that he is very dedicated and committed to his work. He is always willing to help out
and makes sures that all his students are doing what is necessary to pass this course.

The strength of this course is that the homework and weekly assignments are due in an ample amount of
time. It is very beneficial for the working student. The videos are also a great resource for learning.

We do example tax returns to help us understand the information we have read in our textbook. Mr.
Kamida is very open to answering any and all questions we may have on the homework.

Mr. Kamida is very helpful and willing to share is knowledge in taxation. He is very responsive in emails
and his answer are clear and easy to understand.

I enjoy being enrolled in this course this semester. I have been a tax preparer for five years, and I am
continuing to learn as I advance. This course has help me to enhance my knowledge is certain aspect that I
was not very clear on. thus far we have encountered the basic fundamentals of taxation and are moving in
to more details. the chapter videos, has help to clarify the important concept of each chapter.

Mahalo!

The instructor and how he makes everything easy to understand.

I like that this class is available as an online only class. This is much easier for me than having to go to
class since I can work on my own time. I feel that the online lectures have helped me in understanding the
material. The instructor has been very quick in getting back to me when I have questions.

I really liked and appreciated the available learning resources for this course especially the lecture videos
and powerpoints that Professor Kamida put together himself. Those were extremely helpful to me in
understanding the chapter material and studying for the quizzes and exams. The pace of the class was and
has been relatively easy enough to keep up with as well. Not too fast not too slow
The instructor is very nice. He replied to my email very quickly. The video lectures are very clear and
helpful. This class is the best online course I've ever taken.

I like the videos, and the teachers advice.

the instructor is very involved. he gives the wonderful illusion of being behind the scenes at all times. any
time i have asked for help, he has been prompt and helpful.

keep up the good work :)

I feel like I have enough time to learn at my own pace. The requirements are not overwhelming and I'm
able to go over things that I have learned making it easier to remember. Reading and then watching the
videos just clarifies any question I have. This is the first class that I've taken that I actually feel like I'm
learning something useful.

Mr. Kamida is very good instructor. I enjoy the class very much. He is very knowlegeable from my
prospective. I found this tax class to be interesting and unborring.

ONLINE/ COURSE MATERIAL AVAILABILITY

INSTRUCTOR LEADERSHIP/ RESPONSE

the set up is very user-friendly and organized

I believe that the strengths of this course is that the instructor is really guiding us in every activities that he
wants us to do and also posting informations for us to review and learn.

I like the video lectures it is as if you are in a classroom setting

The strenghts of this course is quick quizes online and videos reviews of chapters, it is very helpful to
better understand on what is read on the text book.
The way Roy teaches the class is GREAT!!! It's way easier to learn because it's like skyping and you see
the information as he is talking about it. I mean you can see him, crossing things out, using emphasis on
certine problems, it's great!

Mr. Kamida class is very good. Below is my list:

1. Great communication. Informing and reminding students for assignments, keeping everyone on task.

2. Great organization of resources for us.

3. Learning many things, great help for anyone taking this class!

The material is easy to learn with the instructors videos. He reviews all material and explains the materials.

the text is very in depth

This course allows students to deal with forms that we all need to use in life. It helps us prepare for when
we really need to use them. It also helps us fill out the forms correctly. I think there needs to be atleast one
more weekly assingment in a week.

Actually working with tax software really puts what we learn in this class into perspective. It makes the
class more than just reading out of a text book and answering a few questions after a chapter. This is one
thing I really like about this course.

There are lots of videos from the instructor that help me understand the main concepts of each chapter. I
especially like that we can see his markings on the screen as he's explaining things because it pinpoints
exactly what he's talking about. The videos help it feel like I'm sitting in class, but it's more convenient
since I can pause, rewind, and watch them as many times as I want until I feel comfotable. Besides that,
the powerpoint presentations contain lots of vital information on each chapter also. They're great for
review.

Overall the teacher provides a lot of resources for each chapter for students to access which is great in
comparison to lots of other online classes that don't provide any helpful resources.

WHAT MAKES LEARNING DIFFICULT? (please feel free to

comment on anything concerning the course, instructor, content, technology, personal challenges, etc...)
The pdf form was the most difficult to deal with since I am not able to save data on my comp until I buy the
reader/writer program for which I don't have money for.

Weekly assignments are not predetermined, so you cannot work ahead as necessary on those.

Online courses, not being able to ask questions in person

the lack of time

Getting started on homework and project. A person has to be self motivated.

Sometimes I miss the in-class room experience and face-to-face interaction with fellow classmates and
teachers.

Just being out of school for many years and not knowing what to expect. Professor Kamida makes it easy
to adjust though.

Lack of effort on the part of the student will make learning difficult.

Nothing

nothing

Nothing.

Technology when it fails

I haven't come across anything that has been difficult in this course.

Midterm exam is little bit harder.

Not being in a class room setting. I tend to forget about assignments.

Learning becomes difficult when their is lack of communication or insufficient information is provided and
students have questions but don't always want to email the instructor. Also, learning is difficult when you
do not have resources to assist with the reading material. This class is designed to make learning the
material successful.

For me, it's putting in the time to sit down and read through the chapters and watch all the videos without
being distracted.

The most difficult is not being able to ask questions instantly, like a live class. Mr kamida is very good at
responding to e-mails in a timely manner, so that helps a lot. The only other thing is disciplining myself to
make enough time to study for this online class.

I don't have difficulty in learning on this course because you can ask for help from the instructor.

A glossary would be helpful. Some of the more "accountant-ese" phrases are difficult to plunge right into.
Having to wait for upcoming assignment to be released is a hassle - I prefer to work ahead, and having to
wait is inconvenient.

I think one thing that makes learning difficult is time. I know some of us have to work a full-time job and
go to school as a full-time student at the same time. Sometimes we just don't have the time to study.

With this course, learning should not be be difficult. The only difficulty would be not studying the material.

Nothing at the moment.

There are a lot of announcements that are made in the class. Some are just answers to questions or reposts
of student responses. Though some are good it is hard to keep track of the assignments that are posted in
the announcements.

learning certain concepts can be difficult and complicating because there are cetain rules that applies, and
have many consequences,and difficult terms.

Depends on what you are learning.

So far I haven't had any difficulties with this class. I've been very pleased.

I personally think one of the major difficult aspects of online courses (although they are very convenient in
many other various ways) is time management and the limited availability of in person face to face contact.
If there are confusions or questions, it's a little harder to try to understand the material from peers and the
instructor online rather than being directly physically present in person

There are many new things I've learned in this class, so sometimes I have hard time remember things I
learned from previous chapters.

with this class maybe because it online no personal interaction. But this class does great beause teacher
responds quickly.

for me the most difficult part of learning is when i have to learn something that i don't care about. or if the
instructor isn't engaging or doesn't make the class "active" (for lack of a better word)

luckily i like accounting and this class is online so... :)

If I were to just read the book, I would not be able to catch on to all the concepts. The videos really help
me to understand.

Tax subject is a challege subject for most people. It require a lot of reading and guiding before It become
stressful. Mr. Kamida help me understand it with his video and discussion from other students.
PERSONAL CHALLENGES

disclipine and consistency

none

i dont think it is difficult to learn, I believe that what makes it difficult is if you are disinterested in the
material.

Nothing I can think of.

Nothing really, if you fall alittle behind all you have to do is watch his lessons in Laulima and your all
caught up again! I love this class and I'm on Maui...

Information galore, hard to sort out sometimes, but because of the organization of Mr. Kamida, helped me
organize better.

The only difficult of part of learning is not doing the work.

Personally i'm having difficulty with the class...i'm just not understanding the concepts.

Anything can make learning difficult. I work Monday through Friday, go to school, and have a 2 year old. I
have to learn how to balance things out. I take all online classes because of the flexibility. For me, taking
online classes is easier because I can access my classes practically anywhere.

Nothing. Everything in this class is easy to understand at my own pace.

Since there are so many resources and the instructor gives us ample time to do the assigments and run
through the videos and presentations, a class as intricate as this seems easy.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP YOU GET MORE
OUT OF THIS COURSE? (Please comment on anything concerning the course,
instructor, content, technology, personal responsibility, etc...)

Add more examples during video, as in work through problems as the concept is discussed.

I'd like to see a more interactive schedule. the one now is not very useful for checking off assignments and
planning ahead.

The course is laid out pretty well. A lot of information is provided as are the resources to obtain the
information

for an online course maybe a chat option within the laulima site

N/A

I can't think of anything at this time.

Mr. Kamida is an awesome instructor. His frequent announcement posts keeps you on your toes and forces
students to be very attentive.

Nothing. The class is well organized with the schedule.

I have to put more effort into the course (i.e. doing the problems at the end of the chapter and reviewing the
videos)

Nothing that I can think of.

I believe I should have taken this course on campus but Kamida has made this course easier than I thought
it would be. I expected to struggle through this course but I'm not.

Nothing really. I like that we have videos to watch and that if there is any questions I may have, Mr.
Kamida answers them quickly.

More time and less midterm or midterm just two chapters one time.

If Laulima sent out reminders via cellphones.

I cannot think of anything more at this time.

nothing.

I think Mr Kamida is doing an excellent job as an instuctor. My problem is allowing enough time to study
and do all the assignments and that is on me.

I could not think of any to help this course because everything is provided. I have a different perspective on
online classes now that I have taken this course. Online class could be challenging but it needs a lot of
discipline to get througn it.

Publishing the whole class up front would be wonderful! Other than that, everything is good so far.

Having a tutor.

More different scenarios with income tax returns. More about IRS publications and regulations.

The online practice using the textbook website is very helpful, so there is nothing I can add.
Another instructor that I am taking an online course from changes the homepage once a week with the new
assignments and important deadlines. This is very helpful and it is easy to see what is due, rather than
clicking through various announcements.

I know this would help me :)

I really enjoy this course. I like the chapter videos. it really helps to gain the concepts of each chapter.

Nothing because this is a great course and I enjoy being in it.

I'm satisfied with the class as it is. I hope that more classes are offered online in the future.

I think Professor Kamida is an excellent professor even though I haven't met him or interacted with him in
person but through his teaching material, pace of the class, etc, I find that he is very organized,
understanding, and tactful. He puts in 110% of his efforts to teach this course and to help his students
understand this material. Besides Professor Shelley Ota and Bobby Maxwell, Professor Roy Kamida is now
one of my top favorite professors at Leeward CC whom I would reccomend to any friends and family
anyday. In comparison to the UH Manoa accounting professors, Roy kamida along with Shelley Ota and
Bobby Maxwell are by far the best accounting professors all around. I dislike the Manoa professors in
general. They don't seem to have a passion in teaching and helping their students succeed

I like video lectures. I think it's best if I can be able to download these video lectures to my computer, so I
can rewatch them without logging in Laulima website.

nothing

as nice as it is that the instructor is always available, i dislike the fact that i can't work ahead.

one of the most appealing aspects of an online class is that i can work at my own pace. i can plan ahead to
take a week off by getting the work done ahead of time. i can look at my other class schedules and budget
my time more effectively. and more importantly, i can resist my urge to procrastinate by getting it all done
as soon as possible.
I really can't think of anything.

None for myself. Of course without saying that it require a lot of reading and listen to video lecture and
doing all the homework adn review.

I AM TOTALLY SATISFIED

I like to complete whatever work I can in advance and I'd like the assignments and tests be ready when I am
instead of waiting for it to be published.

More informations and study guide. Especially in calculations.

I think I have to understand the verbage of the Tax language, which will help me understand it better;
therefore, getting the best out of this course

Nothing really, Mr. Kamida is a really great teacher.

I think I'm getting the maxium now, but I am a calender person and maybe if we had some type of planner
or something for assignments due, exams, etc..

No changing needed, it's a great class!

Students should use resourses if having issues. Contact the instructor because I think he very much enjoys
answering all your questions and does it quickly.
I might need to get a tutor or spend more time in the book.

I think there should be more assingments due to help learn the information.

Nothing. I enjoy every aspect of this course. I have no suggestions for improvement.
