Amish Spirituality
A small Christian denomination that developed from the anabaptist denomination.
They focus on the Christian values of hard work, community, and Providence of God over modern
technology.
They have a strong belief in forgiveness ex forgiving the school shooter Charles Roberts.
“Almost immediately, Amish people sought out Roberts' widow and parents to offer "forgiveness and
gracious concern." At Roberts' funeral, more than half the mourners were Amish.” (Williams par 4)
Amish Spirituality continued
Their worship is similar to the early christians described in Acts.
Instead of having a designated church building they worship in the homes of the
members of the community.
They worship on Sunday in the morning like most Christians and set aside the
whole day for prayer and rest besides some essential chores.
They also meet after the service they eat a community meal together.
Amish Spirituality
For the most Amish the bible is the most sacred book.
In addition to the Bible there are three major books that inform the
Amish way of life.
