Summarry
This guidaance docume ent outlines details relatiing to the Peearl Building Rating Systeem (PBRS), RE‐R1:
R
Minimum m Energy Perfformance, Prrescriptive Methodology,
M in order to facilitate com
mpliance with the
quirements. The Prescriptive Method is based upo
credit req on selected requirements
r s in the Abu Dhabi
onal Energy Conservation Code
Internatio C (AD‐IECCC), version 1..0 as issued by
b DMA Januaary 2011.

This Presccriptive Methodology is appplicable to buildings with a gross interrnal floor areaa (GIFA) of 50
000m²
or less. Building
B projects that exceed 5000m² an nd wish to unndertake the prescriptive compliance
c o
option
should appproach the Estidama team m at the UPC prior to comm mencing the design
d submission.

ument provid
This docu des a summaary of the requirements relating
r to envelope, systtems, lightingg and
renewables within the Prescriptive approach forr buildings.

An Estidaama Buildings Energy Preescriptive Patthway tool is to be provvided in conjjunction with

h this
guidance note to aid in
n documentin
ng compliancee.

Requirements
The Presccriptive requirements are based upon an alignmen nt with the AD‐IECC
A wherre applicable.. It is
intended to set a higher standard of o performan nce than the Performance
P Approach in order to enssure a
suitably stringent targget for energyy usage and to enable an n appropriatee level of impprovement beeyond
the Baseliine requirements. Thereffore the majo ority of the taarget values within
w this guidance are su
ubject
to a 10% improvement
i t over the values given in the
t AD‐IECC.

The Presccriptive Appro

oach will outliine target perrformance for
– Buildinng Envelope (incl.
( glazing)
– HVAC systems
– Servicee Hot Water (SHW)
(
– Lightinng (internal & external)
– Renew wables
