reference drawings, IS codes, site engineer/supervisor is the responsible person, required

basic tools and equipment, disposal of excess materials, batter trimmings and compaction,
curing of mortar by water sprinkling.
Instead of stone dust it should be mixed with 10 mm or 6mm for flirtation and minimum
thickness as in drawing.
JSA shall be approved.

You can proceed for a sample slope pitching demonstrating in any one of the bridges for
approval.

 METHOD STATEMENT FOR STONE PITCHING WORK AT BRIDGES

Objective

The method describes about the stone pitching work at Bridge approach slopes beside the
curtain wall on both end.

Procedure
1. Boulders of regular size of 300mm & Stone dust shall be ready at site. Before stone
pitching, the formation behind the return wall to curtain wall shall be dressed to
maintaining at a slope 1:1.5 as mentioned in the drawing. The slope shall be
compacted by manual ramming.
2. In order to prevent escape of the embankment material through the voids of the stone
pitching a layer of 100 to 150mm thick 10mm & 6mm mixed crusher dust as backing
material shall be laid over the embankment material. In addition, this layer enables
greater stability and friction for settlement of boulders firmly without rolling off from top.

3. Boulders shall be shifted manually by labours. It shall be meticulously placed by skilled

labours. For stone pitching also slope 1:1.5 is maintained with lines and levels as per
the drawing. The sizes of spalls shall be a minimum of 25 mm and shall be suitable
to fill the voids in the pitching.
4. Voids of stone pitching shall be filled with 1:6 cement mortars for better interlocking.
The outer edge Strip throughout the slope shall be sealed with M15 grade Leveling
Course.

5. Strip PCC with M20 grade PCC shall be done from sides to confine and to prevent
Boulder sliding. Curing of strip PCC and mortar shall be done by water sprinkling for
7days.
 We shall make a sample stone pitching at any of the bridges.
6. FQP vide document no. Doc no- H-W020-600-E-QC-GN-037 & attached Checklist shall be
maintained for records.

7. Approved JSA shall be followed at site.
