Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text types
serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use ways of analysing one-act play and
different forms of verbals for him/her to skillfully perform in a one-act play.

Performance Standard
The learner skillfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal
strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, and
Dramatic Conventions.
I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:


a. identify technical vocabulary for drama and play;
b. be familiar with the elements of a play; and
c. recognize the significance of the elements in crafting a play.

Directions: The class will form two groups. Each group
will be given a set of jumbled letters together with its
clues. Your task is to rearrange the word and slid it back
on the pocket-like cover on the manila paper given. The
first group who will spell all the words correctly will be

D. Discussion
Play – is a literary form of writing for theatre, which
narrates a story with elements of conflicts, tensions, and
actions through dialogues of characters. For dramatic
significance, it is divided into acts and scenes. The writers
present their feelings, emotions, and ideas through their
characters and make them speak.

means “to act” or “to perform.”

Elements of Play
1. Plot: It refers to the order of the events that occur in
the play.
Parts of the Plot
a. Introduction or Exposition: explains the
situation with which the story begins.
b. Rising Action or Involution:
complication is presented.
c. Climax: highest point of interest, usually a
question is raised.
d. Falling Action or Resolution: solutions to
the problems are presented.
e. Conclusion: situation with which the story
ends.

message that the play gives to the audience.
4. Setting: It refers to the time and place where a story is
set. It is one of the important parts of the play.
5. Dialogue: It refers to the conversation or interactions
between the characters in the play.
6. Conflict: It refers to the challenge main characters
need to solve to achieve their goals.
