This work method statement covers outline procedure for Brickworks for DESIGN AND BUILD

6.0 METHOD OF STATEMENT (METHODOLOGY)

The sequence of the work for the plastering can be summaries follows:

a) Prior to the plastering work, the wall surfaces must be free from fungus, ready to receive
the plaster.

b) The wall surface also must be spray with water if clay brick built the walls. The purposed is
to prevent wall plaster from crack if wall is too dry and serve to clean a layer of dust.

c) The ratio of cement sand mortar mixer for cement plaster is 1:6

d) The plasterwork shall follow upon the completion of wall. The plastering thickness shall be
in accordance specification.

e) Tools as such straight edge, scoop, sponge, brush and other small tools are used to
flatten/smoother the plasterwork.

f) All the sanitary pipe and M&E piping shall be installed before plastering work start.

g) Before applying first coat, setting out work for plaster wall shall be carried out to mark the
plaster thickness. Marker peg and angle bead (A3-5-S) shall be install.

h) Site supervisor is to check the marker peg is properly level and the vertically of the angle
bead. Submit inspection form to C.O.W for inspection before proceed with plastering
works.

i) Mix cement mortar in mix of 1:6. The plasterer shall use the marker as the refence point
and apply in two coats generally to a thickness of 20mm. 1st coat for plain surface to be
rough plastered. After adequate harden of the plaster surface, 2nd coat to be smooth finish
for external wall using sponge.

j) If the plaster wall is without enclosure surround Polythene sheet or canvas be used to
prevent the traffic or rainwater from enters to the wall surface.

7.0 ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

7.1 Environmental Aspect, Impact & Control Measures.

The airside activities that will be carried out during the operation stage and the potential
environmental impact that may occur is summarized with mitigation measures in the following
table.

9.0 SAFETY MEASUREMENT


i. All work is prohibited to start before receiving Permit to Work (PTW) by the Building Owner/
Project Owner.
ii. All site worker is compulsory to attend safety induction from the project authorities to ensure
that all worker is aware of site requirement.
iii. Use the proper tool for the job. Worker needs to avoid the first impulse to use whatever tool
(or object) is around you to get a work task done. Using the wrong tool for the job can result
in an injury or damage to the tool which can lead to an injury in the future.
iv. Always wear the proper PPE for the work task. All worker is obligated to ware complete
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety helmet, coverall, safety shoes and etc.
v. Working areas must be secured by preventing unauthorized access by using barrier and
signs.
vi. All worker is to make sure chemicals are properly labelled and stored. Improper labelling and
storage can lead to injuries or property loss due to fires, corrosion, etc.
vii. All workers need to stay alert of any potential hazards such as dangerous substance and
confined spaces, so that measures can be developed to eliminate and minimize the risks.

viii. All the workers must ensure that the working area is cleaned and is in safe condition after the
work is completed.
