LESSON PLAN

Trade: ELECTRICIAN Module/Unit: II

Date: 08.02.2021 Time: 30 Minutes
Lesson No: 02

I. PREPARATION:

Title: Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction

(1) Objectives: (After teaching this lesson the trainees will be able to)
1. Define Faraday’s Laws
2. State the uses of Faraday’s Laws
3. Discuss the limitations of Faraday’s Law.
4. State the advantage of Faraday’s Law.

(2) Teaching Aids: Chalkboard, chalk, charts, computer system, projector, etc.

(3) Introduction:
(a) Review: Introduction to Permanent magnet and magnetic circuit.
(b) Motivation: Electric Generator, metal detectors, Transformer Faraday’s Law is applicable.

II. PRESENTATION:

Development / Information Points Hints

Topics

Definition When the magnetic flux linking a circuit changes, an Use chart, project
electromotive force is induced in the circuit
proportional to the rate of change of the flux linkage.

Use Electrical components such as inductors and

transformers and devices such as electric motors and
generators.

Equation E=-N d/dt

N= Number of loops, d= Change in magnetic flux
dt= change in time, E= Induced voltage

Whenever conductor is placed in varying magnetic

1st Law field, an electromotive force is induced. If the
conductor circuit closed, a current is induced which is
called current.

2nd Law The induced emf in a coil is equal to rate of change of
the flux linkage.

Limitation It holds only when the close circuit is made of a loop of

infinitely thin wire Use chart, project

Advantage AC or DC electric power can generated using

Electromagnetic energy source.

Solve problem

III. APPLICATION:

1. What is Faraday’s Law?

2. What is significance of Faraday’s Law?
3. What is equation of Faraday’s Law?

Summary: We discussed about Definition of the Faraday’s Law and its use. Equation of Faraday’s law,
Types, Limitation and advantage.

IV. TEST:
Assignment:
1. What are the two law’s of Faraday’s Electromagnetic Induction? Explain.
2. State Faraday’s Law
3. What are the limitation & advantage of Faraday’s Law?
