Installation Manual

Introduction
This manual contains the information necessary to install the Seatex DPS 700 cabinet on
a vessel.
Seatex DPS 700 units are highly accurate DGPS positioning sensors. Equipped with
two (Inmarsat and Spotbeam) or more independent DGPS correction links, increased
accuracy and quality control in the positioning is achieved. DPS 700 units incorporate
internal IALA (International Association of Lighthouse Authorities) Beacon Receivers
for reception of DGPS correction data and a UHF Receiver for Petrobras corrections
in Brazil.
The DPS 700 system may be delivered with different sizes and types of monitors.
Installation of the monitor is therefore not part of this manual, but is described in a
separate installation manual. The installation procedures for the cabinet in this manual
have to be followed to achieve the specified accuracy of the product.
WARNING
The equipment includes high voltage (115/230 VAC) which means that the possibility
for getting an electrical shock is present.
Before commencing any installation work, read the guidelines for First Aid treatment of
personnel with electrical shock.
Note
Unless otherwise noted, all mounting brackets or frames mentioned within this document
are to be supplied by yard/customer.
The guidelines for installation presented here must be regarded as a base for detailed
plans prepared by the installation shipyard. These plans must include drawings,
instructions and procedures specific to the ship in which the equipment is to be installed.
These drawings must be approved by the local maritime classification society.
Unless stated otherwise, all installation work described in this document is to be
performed by yard/customer personnel. It is the responsibility of the yard/customer to
assure that their installation personnel are sufficiently qualified, and that proper caution
is taken to avoid injuries or damage to life, health, environment, equipment and property.

DPS 700 Cabinet

Location on the Unit

The DPS 700 Cabinet is designed for indoor installation and should not be exposed
to heavy vibrations. The cabinet should not be installed close to heavy transformers
or similar.
The cabinet has an internal fan and requires free airflow from the rear out to the sides of
the unit. It is recommended that ventilation or air conditioning is provided in order to
keep the ambient operating temperature around +20°C.
It is also recommended that the area around the cabinet is kept free from dust and static
electricity.
All connections to the DPS 700 are on the rear side of the cabinet. Hence, available
space for cable connection and service must be adequate.
Since the keyboard is located in the cabinet, the distance between the monitor and the
cabinet should be limited to a practical range where the monitor may be seen and read
from the position of the cabinet.

Logistics
