The maps below show the town of Langley in 1910 and 1950.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and
make comparisons where relevant.
The two maps illustrate the town of Langley in its development over a forty-year
period, from 1910 to 1950. Overall, the town underwent significant changes,
notably the addition of some newly-built recreational facilities and amenities, at
the expense of the factory and wasteland.
In 1950, blocks of flats in the western side of the town were erected as a
replacement for rows of townhouses. To the north of Langley, industrial facilities
were removed to make room for Sherman Mansions. Regarding recreation,
Sherman Park was constructed on a site that was once wasteland and once
accommodated a railway line.

The café and the laundry were moved to the north, residing in a place that once
was wasteland. Another development was a chain of stores which was erected and
occupied the area that used to be railway workers' cottages. On the left of the stores
was a newly built road named New Lane.

To sum up, there were massive renovations to the town of Langley regarding its
entertainment as well as residential and industrial features.

The maps below show the changes that have taken place at the waterfront area
of a town called Darwin between 2009 and 2014. Summarise the information by
selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where
relevant.
B1:
- phần lớn industrial area  bỏ, trồng cây
- trung tâm: thêm 3 toà nhà + 1 uni
- north: new swimming pool; school, convention center, 2 swimming pool không
đổi
B2:
- cảng mới xây ở bờ đông + 1 đường đi kết nối main road bờ tây với cảng
- footpath xung quanh vùng trung tâm không đổi

The two maps illustrate the waterfront area of the town Darwin in its development
over a five-year period, from 2009 to 2014. Overall, the area underwent significant
shifts, notably the addition of some recreational facilities and amenities with more
open space, at the expense of industrial areas.
In 2009, the majority part of the town was covered by the industrial area which
was demolished in the next 5 year to make room for tree plantation. In the central
area, three new residential buildings were erected and there was also a new
university building nearby. To the north of the waterfront area, swimming pool
was erected in a place which was once industrial zone, while there was no change
with the school, convention center and two former swimming pools.

In terms of access, there were a newly-built harbour on the seashore to the east of
the town and a road path to connect the harbor with the main road in the west. In
contrast, the footpath which encircles the centre of the town remained unchanged.

The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and
plans for its development. Summerise the information and make comparisons.
B1:
- chuỗi
cửa
hàng,
main road đi qua trung tâm thành phố
- phía nam: 2 housing estates
- park phía đông, school phía tây nam
B2:
- future: khá biệt với vùng shopping area được thay đổi hoàn toàn
- central road chuyển thành khu vực cho người đi bộ và đường đi sẽ ddược xây quanh
thành phố
- shops ở phía bắc sẽ được chuyển thành shopping centre, car park, bus station, some new
housing
- shops ở phía nam của main road trước kia vẫn giữ nguyên
- park sẽ thu bé lại bởi dual carriageway, housing và trường học sẽ gần như không đổi
The two maps illustrate how the town centre of Islip is expected to be
redeveloped from its current setup. Overall, the town is due to undergo significant
changes, notably the addition of a new transport network and various other
commercial facilities, at the expense of some of the green belt around the town.
At present, Islip town centre comprises a series of shops with a main road
running through the centre of the town. To the south, there are two housing
estates. A park is situated to the east and a school is located to the south-west.

The future of Islip will look rather different with the main shopping area being
radically transformed. The centrai road will be converted to a pedestrian area and
a brand-new ring road will be constructed around the town. While the shops to the
north will be converted into a shopping centre, car park, bus station and some
new housing, those to the south of the former main road will remain. The park in
the south-eastern side of the town will lose some of its size as a result of the dual
carriageway and the housing and school will remain fairly unchanged.

The maps below show a bookstore in 2000 and now

B1: 2000, khu vực cho fiction books phía tay trái  hiện tại được chia thành 4
sections cho books on art, hobbies, cookery and fiction
B2:
- khu vực cho fiction books ở rìa trái  non-fiction books, trong khi non-fiction
book section cũ được chuyển thành new cafe
- khu vực trung tâm được sử dụng cho art, cookery, hobby books  tables and
chairs
- travel books, new books và service desk  giữ nguyên
The two maps illustrate how the layout of a bookstore has been rearranged in 2000
and at the present. Overall, the layout of the bookstore has transformed
significantly, especially on the left-hand side of the room. A number of features
have been moved and modified, while other facilities have been added.

In 2000, there was a large section of fiction books on the left-hand side of the
store. However, that section has been divided into four new sections, in which
books on art, hobbies, cookery, and fiction are now displayed.

The area for fiction books in the rear left corner of the store is now used for non-
fiction books, while the old non-fiction section has been converted into a new cafe.
The central area of the room, which used to be for art, cookery, and hobby
books, is now occupied by tables and chairs. Meanwhile, the space for travel
books, new books, and the service desk, has remained unchanged over the years.

The plans below show a student room for two people and a student room for one
person at an Australian university.
The maps illustrate the layout plans of 2 different rooms specifically designed to
accommodate a single and two occupants in an Australian university.

Overall, there are several major differences between two rooms, in terms of widths,
prices and the numbers of in-room facilities along with their placement.
Apparently, the room for two students has a higher price, larger space and more
room equipment.

Regarding the prices, it costs $350 per week to live in the double room while a
student has to pay more than half of it, $200 per week to rent the single room.
Furthermore, the room for 2 students is also significantly wider, at 6m x 4m
compared with the other, which is only 6m x 2.5m. As regards the interior
equipment, the room designed for 2 occupants feature an extra bed, study desk,
book shelf as well as dining tables and chairs.

There are similarities in the positions of the bathrooms, bed 1 and study desk 1 in
the single room and those in the double dorm room. Specifically, they are situated
at the top left corner, the top right corner and between bed 1 and the bathroom
respectively. Additionally, in both rooms, the cooking areas, each consisting of a
microwave, a stove and a sink, are placed at the bottom left corner.
The pictures show the changes of a park from 1980 to the present day.

The two maps illustrate how the layout of a park has been developed from 1980
until the present.

Overall, the park is now more accessible and has several new facilities to serve for
different recreational demands of the public.

In 1980, there was one pathway running through the park from the west gate to the
south gate. A number of trees were located in the north east, and flowers were
planted along the south wall. There was also a pond situated on the eastern side of
the park with several benches around it.

Between 1980 and now, the path was removed and replaced with a new path which
leads to all four sides of the park, and essentially divides it into four different
areas. In the south western corner, the pond and benches are still intact, but the
flowers in that area have been replaced with bushes. A new picnic area with tables
and a barbecue grill has been set up in the north east corner, while the southeastern
corner is now a dedicated playing field.
Plan A below shows the ground floor of a particular art gallery in 2005. Plan
B shows the same area in the present day.

The two plans below illustrates how the ground floor of an art gallery has been
developed from 2005 until the present.

Overall, the ground floor has undergone significant changes, particularly on the
left-hand side of the building. A number of features have been renovated and
converted, while several other facilities have been added to the building in general.

In 2005, there was a café and shop in the rear-left corner of the building. However,
the café has been removed and the room is now strictly a gallery shop. Meanwhile,
the three exhibition rooms on the right-hand side of the building remain
unchanged, and a new lift has been installed next to the exhibition room 3, making
the stairway to the upper floor smaller.

The gallery office, which was situated between the exhibition room 4 and the old
café, has also been removed and the area is now occupied by three vending
machines. The exhibition room 4 has now been divided into two different areas: a
temporary exhibition and a children’s play area. Meanwhile, the reception desk has
been moved closer to the centre of the entrance hall and a wheelchair ramp has also
been added to the front entrance.
