SECTION A: BIM PROJECT EXECUTION PLAN OVERVIEW

PART ( I ): BIM Project Execution Plan Introduction
 To successfully implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) on a project, the project team has developed
this detailed BIM Project Execution Plan.

 This Document (BIM Execution Plan) defines how the modeling aspect of the project is to be carried out and
how the model and data are formatted during the project Lifecycle.

 The BIM Project Execution Plan defines uses for BIM on the project (e.g. design authoring, cost estimating,
and design coordination), along with a detailed design of the process for executing BIM throughout the
project lifecycle.

 The intent of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) is to define a foundational framework to ensure successful
deployment of advanced design technologies on our BIM enabled project.

 The BEP is about optimizing work and model workflow across the project, as contrasted with optimizing
soloed interests. The key is good planning of the design-to-engineering-to-construction process to
minimize downstream surprises, rework, redundancies or gaps in the flow of (model-based) information .

 This BEP was made based on The Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) as the following:
Requirements
1) BIM Modeling
2) Coordination
3) Drawings /Quantity Extraction
4) BOQ
5) 4D/5D
6) 6D/7D
7) AR/VR
8) Facility management

PART ( III ): BIM Project Execution Plan Used Glossary

BIM Goals
Objectives used to define the potential value of BIM for a project and for project team members. BIM Goals help to
define how and why BIM will be used on a project or in an organization .

1. BIM Use :
A method of applying Building Information Modeling during a facility’s lifecycle to achieve one or more specific
objectives.

2. BIM Process :
A generic name for the practice of performing BIM. This process can be planned or unplanned.
The BIM Process may also be referred to as the BIM Execution Process or the BIM Project Execution Process.
The BIM Project Execution Planning Process suggests diagramming the BIM process using process maps.

3. BIM Process Maps :

A diagram of how BIM will be applied on a project. The BIM Project Execution Plan proposes two levels of Process
Maps: BIM Overview Map and Detailed BIM Use Process Maps.

4. Overview Process Map :

A high-level BIM Process Map that illustrates the relationship between BIM Uses which will be employed on the
project.

5. Detailed BIM Process Map(s) :

A comprehensive BIM Process Map that defines the various sequences to perform a specific application of BIM
or BIM Uses. These maps also identify the responsible parties for each process, reference information content,
and the information exchanges which will be created and shared with other processes.

6. Information Exchange ( IE ) :
Information passed from one party to another in the BIM process. The parties involved should agree upon and
understand what information will be exchanged. These are often in the form of deliverables from a process that
will be required as a resource for future processes.

7. BIM Deliverables :
Information (in numerous formats) that may be required by contract or agreement to be submitted or passed to
another party.

3. BIM Uses :
BIM Uses are a method of associating specific BIM benefits to steps in the design > build > operate workflow.
BIM has so many potential benefits for a building lifecycle it is important to define the specific BIM Uses per
project, defining a clear BIM Use on a project can help teams understand the value and purpose of any BIM
deliverable.
Here’s a categorization of possible BIM uses at different stages in a building project :

4. INTERACTIVE WORKSPACE :
The BIM Plan for the project cannot be developed in isolation. No one party within the project team can
adequately outline the execution plan, while also obtaining the necessary team member commitments for
successful BIM implementation. In order to have a successful project using BIM, full coordination and
collaboration by all parties is an absolute necessity. The planning team should conduct a series of planning
meetings to develop the execution plan.
On most projects a minimum of two or three meetings will be needed to develop the overall BIM Plan. The initial
meeting will need to have key decision makers for all organizations. Follow-up meetings will require fewer
people, and be more targeted on the details related to execution .

SECTION J: QUALITY CONTROL

1. Overall Strategy for Quality Control :
All Modeling parties shall follow the provided project CAD files and data. Keeping the work units and base point
similar in all models and links. Checks are to be done by the concerned parties periodically as mentioned in the
execution plan.
Issues are to be reported upon discovery to the team lead. Immediate decision of postponing the team workflow or
a specific discipline should be taken by the team lead in order to avoid unwanted errors or double work. Actions are
to be decided by the team lead and assigned immediately to the concerned team parties to keep the deadlines trying
not to affect the work flow.

2. Quality Control Checks :

The following checks should be performed to assure quality.

3. Required Quality Reports:

 The Quality Control Report is provided each time data is submitted the responsible for checking that all the
data has been completed and adheres to the standards complete the basic information as outlined in the
report. The project information should match what is found on the project's BEP. The list of included data
should be completed.

 The Quality Report be issued with every formal data submitted. The team will ensure that these
requirements are met .

4. Model Accuracy and Tolerances :

Models should include all appropriate dimensioning as needed for design intent , analysis and construction .
Level of detail and included model elements are provided in the information exchange worksheet.

5. Coordination and Clash Detection :

i. Clash Matrix :
 Clashes that are considered critical to resolve in the design stage and impact project functionality,
compliance to the brief, codes and standards and project cost or income and construction schedule . This
project will use Autodesk Navisworks to perform clash detection between disciplines .
 Clash Detection will e applied based on the following clash matrix.

ii. Coordination workflow :

After the individual discipline-specific models developed(the structural and architectural should be established first
To act as the base model), each BIM author needs to do internal coordination before sending out their individual
Models to the BIM manager.
- Then, the federated model (an integrated model from individual discipline-specific models) will be generated.
- The federated model will be used for clash detection, which includes automatic clash detection.
- The clashes discovered will be sorted and grouped to be discussed in a design coordination meeting for making
decisions about how to resolve conflicts among the participants themselves and committing to the decisions
implemented .

Understand hardware specification becomes valuable once information begins to be shared between several
disciplines or organizations. It also becomes valuable to ensure that the downstream hardware is not less
powerful than the hardware used to create the information. In order to ensure that this does not happen, choose
the hardware that is in the highest demand and most appropriate for the majority of BIM Uses.
