GUIDELINES BEFORE AND AFTER THE PLAY
Before the Play Starts
1. Admission of the Audience (30 minutes before start time): Open the doors for the audience to enter the venue. Ensure ushers are ready to guide attendees to their seats. 2. Pre-Show Music Play background music to set the mood and create anticipation. Choose music that complements the theme of the play. 3. Pre-Show Announcements (5-10 minutes before start time): House lights dim as a signal for the audience to take their seats. A voiceover or live speaker makes pre-show announcements: Welcome and thank the audience for attending. Remind them to turn off or silence electronic devices. Announce the expected duration of the play. 4. Seating Announcement (10 minutes before start time): Remind attendees to take their seats as the performance is about to begin. Encourage everyone to settle in and enjoy the show. 5. Final Preparations (5 minutes before start time): Dim the lights to signal the imminent start of the play. Ensure that all backstage preparations are complete. Have the director or a designated person provide a brief welcome and introduction. 6. Curtain Rises (Start Time): Raise the curtain or begin the performance promptly at the scheduled start time. Allow the audience to immerse themselves in the theatrical experience.
After the Play:
7. Curtain Call: The director or a designated speaker thanks the audience. The curtain rises for the cast's curtain call. Audience applauds and cheers for the performers. 8. Acknowledgments and Closing Statements: The director or representative acknowledges the cast, crew, and any contributors. Expresses gratitude to the audience for their attendance and support. Provides any closing statements or reflections. 9. Exit of the Audience: Ushers guide the audience as they exit the venue. Attendees may have the opportunity for post-show interactions or refreshments. 10. Cast and Crew Celebration (if budget allows) Organize a small reception or provide refreshments for the entire cast and crew.
