HOME COOKING ASSIGNMENT # 1

Name Arfan khan 9RPeriod _____ Due Date 18th October

Assignment: Plan, prepare, evaluate and serve an aesthetically pleasing main


dish or accompaniment (vegetable salad) for your family. Return this form
with a parent/guardian signature after completion. Be sure to clean up your
kitchen when finished.

You must set up a workstation at home. Your workstation can be a table or


counter top. To set the workstation;
1. Place a cutting board in the centre of the table or counter-top.

2. To the right of the cutting board place your utensils that you will be
using e.g. knife, fork, mixing bowl, grater, etc. Arrange them
according to size and usage.

3. To the left of the cutting board place a food tray and inside put all the
ingredients you will be using and cover with a kitchen towel. Take a
picture of this setting and upload. 50 pts.

Ensure you are properly attired in an apron and chef hat. You must be seen in
the video and pictures.

Take pictures of your final product.

Aesthetic Guidelines: color, texture, flavor, temperature, size, shape.

Name of Salad:Mixed vegetable salad

Salad Recipe: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sweet pepper, purple onion,


sweet corn, Italian dressing

Color used: Green, red, purple, yellow

Texture used: Hard, soft and wet

Flavors used: sweet and a little bitter

Temperatures: Cool due to stored in refrigerator

Sizes & Shapes:Round, long, curvy, Triangle, bell shaped, square

1. Menu uses a variety of colors, textures, flavors, temperatures, sizes, and


shapes. EXPLAIN. Using a variety of colors, textures and flavors etc, is
because it grabs certain attention and delight to the meal

2. Needed supplies and food were acquired before the meal preparation began.
EXPLAIN. The reason being for requirement of food and supplies before the
preparation is because it gives you a better advantage of getting the meal
done faster
