speed limit, HSE regular equipment inspection, PPE, etc.

9. HEALTH AND SAFETY

All the safety measures are covered separately in the project HSE plan. However, a specific Risk
Assessment (RA) is attached to this submittal to cover all identified risks of this activity
10. EXECUTION :

A. GENERAL

• The Preparation and application procedure should be in strict accordance with the content of this
method statement and approved waterproofing shop drawing details.

B. SURFACE PREPARATION

• Prior to the cementitious installation all the unauthorized individuals must be prevented from
having access to the work site Pre-wet evenly the surface
• Before any commencement of waterproofing works, surfaces will be examined by IKK, in order to
ensure that there are no conditions which could adversely affect the performance of the
Waterproofing System.
• The receiving surface should be dry, clean, sound, smooth, free of loose particles and sharp edges,
oil and grease, detrimental to the membrane.
• If any irregularities to the surface are noticed, the surfaces must be repaired before any membrane
application. If using a formwork, only light grinding will be required on the overall surface; most of the
grinding works will be focused on formwork panel joints and/or tie rods holes. Otherwise, any uneven
surface receiving membrane will have to be plastered.
• The surface must be mechanically prepared by means of concrete grinder or high pressure water
jetting, to achieve a rough surface in order to allow a mechanical key and to improve the adhesion of
the coating to the substrate as per manufacturer recommendation.
• Saturate absorbent surfaces thoroughly. The surface should be in saturated surface dry condition
prior to the application.

C. Mixing:

• Stir the liquid then pour into mixing vessel. Slowly add the powder while mixing with a low speed
drill, by controlling the amount of powder, the consistency can be adjusted, depending on the
application type. Mix for at least 3 minutes, until a homogenous mixture, free from lumps is achieved.
Do not add water under any circumstances. D. Coating Application:
• Apply first coat of "SikaSeal 105" or "MasterSeal 550" or "Planiseal 288" cementitious waterproofing
in the same direction using stiff brush.
• Let the first coat dry (as per data sheet) proceeding with the second coat.
• Slightly pre-wet the first coat in case of longer waiting times. Then brush on the second coat in
crosswise direction to the first coat, to reach a total average thickness of 2mm. E. Pipe penetration
treatment:
• Ensure all pipes are clean, dry and free of all rust, oils, grease or other deleterious coatings.
• Apply a mortar cantsrip around the pipe, then the cementitious coating will be applied over it and
extended over the pipe in two coats. F. Curing:
• Once fully cured proceed to water test. G. Integrity Test:
• Seal all drains and water discharge outlets prior to water test.
• Perform water test by flooding the completed areas with 2” minimum water head level for a period
of 48 hours without any interruption. H. Prevision of Repair Works in Case of Water Leakage
• Clean the damaged area and remove any dust and other small particles around the affected area.
• Re-apply "SikaSeal 105" or "MasterSeal 550" or "Planiseal 288" to correct deficiencies as per
manufacturer recommendation and allow curing time. I. Installation of Protection Layer:
• Depending on bonded or un-bonded screed requirements, a protecting layer of polyethylene sheet
1000 gauge including protection screed shall be applied over the waterproofing layer.
