B. Lesson Proper Before we proceed to our
dicussion for today, I have here
our goals, the knowledge and
skills that you have to attain at
the end of this lesson.

At the end of the lesson you

should be able to:

1. Identify the singular and plural

forms of nouns.
2. Apply rules for forming plurals
correctly (e.g., adding "-s" to most
nouns, adding "-es" for words
ending in "-ch," "-sh," "-x," "-s," "-
z," changing "y" to "i" and
adding "-es").
3. Value the importance of

nouns.

For you you to achieve all of

this, please listen to my
discussion, participate, and ask
questions if you have concerns
about our topic for today.
So base from the video quiz that
you’ve answered awhile ago, who
can tell me what is our topic for
today.
(Ms. Gia will call a student to Student: Singular
answer) and Plural Forms of
Nouns

Correct, thank you. Our lesson

for today is all about the Singular
and Plural Forms of Nouns.

A Noun is a name of a word

represent place, person , thing,
animal or idea.

When a noun refers to a single

person, place, animal, idea, or a
thing, it is called "Singular".

Examples:

A cat

A bat

A school

when noun refers to a two or

many persons, places or a things,
it is called "Plural".

cats

bats
schools

Now look at your surroundings,

give me examples of things,
person, or ideas that you can see
here inside your classroom. And
make sure to state its plural form.
For those who wants to answer,
just raise your hand and wait for
me to call you.

(Ms.Gia will call the students who

(Students will raise
wants to answer and let them
their hand to
write their answers on the board.)
answer.)
In forming plurals of nouns it is
not easy and also confusing
right?, but when you master the
rules familiarize and understand it
then you will surely change a
singular noun to its plural form
correctly.

A Singular noun changes in to

plural noun in many ways.
Please read altogether.
Students: Rules in
“Rules in Forming the Plural
Forming the Plural
of Nouns”.
of Nouns.
By Adding "s" to the singular
noun.

By Adding "es" to the singular

noun ending in s,x,o,z, sh and ch (Students will listen
silently to the
discussion and will
answer when Ms.
Gia will ask a
question.)

By changing "y" to "ies" if the

singular noun end in y and
preceded with consonant.

If the noun ends with "f "or "fe"

the plural is formed by changing
"f "or "fe" to "ves"

Now, let us proceed to Irregular

nouns. So what is Irregular noun?

An irregular noun is a noun that

becomes plural by changing its
spelling in other ways than
adding an “s” or “es” to the end of
the word.

Irregular noun

Same form for singular and

plural.

At the end, you should remember

the following "Plural Rules"

Is there any questions or

Clarifications before we proceed
to our next activity? Don’t
hesitate to ask for you to
understand
(Some students may
(Ms.Gia will explain to the ask for some
students who ask for some few questions and
questions regarding the topic clarification.)
being discussed.)

C. Application
Get 1 whole sheet of paper, don’t
forget to write your name, grade
and section, and the date today.
Okay, are you ready now? Students: Yes
Ms.Gia
For the instruction, I will show to
you some pictures, what you
will do is to write its Singular and
Plural form.

For example, I will show you a

picture of a house, so you will
write on your paper house-
houses
Do you all understand? Students: Yes, Ms.
Gia.
Okay number your papers from
1-5.

1.
2.

3.

(The students will

look at the pictures
being shown by Ms.
Gia and will write
their answers
silently on their
4. papers.)

5.

Okay now let us have the

checking, exchange your papers
with your seat mates and make
sure you are not checking your
own paper. There will 2 checks in
each number okay, 1 check for
the singular form and 1 check for
the plural form.

Who wants to answer number 1?

(Ms. Gia will call a student to Student: leaf-leaves
answer.)

Correct, in this noun we applied

the rules of changing f to “ves”.

Next, number 2 who wants to

answer?
(Ms. Gia will call a student to Student: tooth-teeth
answer.)

Very good, and this noun is an

irregular noun since the spelling
of the word tooth changes
and becomes teeth as we make it
to its plural form.

Next, number 3.(Ms. Gia will call Student: sock-socks

a student to answer.)

You’re right, so you will just

simply add s to sock to change it
to its plural form.
Number 4, (Ms. Gia will call a Student: baby-
student to answer.) babies

Very good, thank you. In this

noun we applied the rule of y
preceded with a consonant letter
so what you will do is to change
the y to i and add es.

Last, number 5.(Ms. Gia will call Student: tomato-

a student to answer.) tomatoes

Correct, thank you. So how does Students: By adding

we change tomato to its plural es.
form?

Very good, nouns ending with

letter o will be added with es to
change to its plural form.

Okay so the total score is 10,

please return the paper to its
owner. Who got perfect?

Very good, keep up the good (The students who

work for those who got scores 7 got perfect scores
