BE - SEMESTER–I (OLD) EXAMINATION – WINTER 2023
Subject Code:110013 Date:19-01-2024
Subject Name:Engineering Graphics
Time:02:30 PM TO 05:30 PM Total Marks:70
Instructions:
1. Attempt all questions.
2. Make suitable assumptions wherever necessary.
3. Figures to the right indicate full marks.
4. Simple and non-programmable scientific calculators are allowed.

Q.1 (a) Minor axis is 80 mm and major axis is of 125 mm length. Draw an ellipse using arc 07
of circle method.
(b) The length of the bridge on the Ahmedabad - Vadodara expressway is 330m. On 07
the road map, it is shown by a 16.5 cm long line. Construct a scale to show meters
to measure up to 400m. Show the length of 289 meter and 123 meter on the scale
Q.2 (a) Slider A slides along link OC. If the length of link AB=OB=50 mm, draw locus of 07
midpoint of link AB for complete sliding of slider A.

(b) A string is attached to circle at a point. String is completely wounded around the 07
circumference of a circle of diameter 50mm. Trace path of free end of the string.
Name the curve traced out by the string. Draw tangent and normal at any point to
the curve.
OR
(b) Draw symbol of following lines and write at least one application of the same 07
1) Hidden line
2) Centre line
3) Cutting plane line
4) Short break line
5) Long break line
6) Dimension line
7) Section line
Q.3 (a) A line PQ has its end P 15 mm above H.P. and 10 mm in front of V.P. The end Q is 07
60 mm above H.P. The distance between the end projectors is 55 mm. The line is
inclined to H.P. by 25o. Draw the projections and find its inclination with V.P. and
true length of line PQ.
(b) Draw the projections of a regular Hexagonal plane of 30 mm side having one of its 07
sides on the H.P. and inclined at 60o to V.P. and its surface making an angle of 45 o
with H.P.

OR
Q.3 (a) Differentiate between aligned system of dimensioning and unidirectional system of 04
dimensioning.
(b) A square pyramid, base 45 mm side and axis 70 mm long has its base in H.P. and 10
all edges of the base are equally inclined to V.P. It is cut by a section plane
perpendicular to V.P. and inclined at 45o to the H.P. such that it bisects the axis.
Draw its sectional top view, front view and the true shape of the section.

Q.4 (a) Draw development of surface of cone as shown in figure. 07

(b) (1) Differentiate between prism and pyramid 03

(2) Differentiate between orthographic projection and isometric projection 04

a). Point A is 20 mm above HP and 20 mm behind VP
b). Point B is 15 mm behind VP and 25 mm below HP
c). Point C is 10 mm above HP and 30 mm in front of VP
d). Point D is 25 mm below HP and 10 mm in front of VP
(b) Draw top view and front view of a rectangular pyramid of sides of base 40mm x 50mm 10
and height 70mm when it lies on one of its larger triangular faces on HP. The longer edge
of the base of the triangular face lying on HP is inclined at 60o to VP

Q.5 Draw front view from the direction X, top view and left hand side view of the 14
following figure using first angle method of projection.
Give dimensions using aligned method of dimensioning.
