Setting Expectations

1 This course is for users who already have a basic level of Tableau proficiency
• If you aren’t able to navigate Tableau Desktop and perform basic workbook functions, we recommend taking the Tableau
Desktop course from Maven Analytics first

2 We’ll be focusing specifically on Tableau Server authoring and interaction

• This course is geared towards developers and analysts curating content on Tableau Server and those interacting with
workbooks online, and is not intended to serve as a comprehensive deep dive

3 We won’t cover Tableau Server Administration in this course

• We’ll be focusing primarily on content management and consumption by developers and end users, rather than setup and
administration of a Tableau Server / Online Environment

4 What you see on your screen may not always match mine
• Tableau products update frequently, so features and functionality may change over time. We’ll be using a free trial of
Tableau Online for this course, which may look different than your own Server/Online deployment

Downloading Tableau Online (Trial)

IMPORTANT: If you don’t have access to a Tableau Online or Server

environment, we recommend signing up for a 14-day free trial of Tableau

This course is compatible with Server or Online, but keep in mind that:
• The trial is a free version of Tableau Online, available at
tableau.com/products/online/request-trial
• The trial is only available for 14 days, and will deactivate unless purchased
