The significant portion of students struggling with the understanding of
lessons, unable to grasp the concepts in physical science. Leading to the
undesirable results of the student’s performance in the summative tests in San Mateo Senior High School. Based on the results, The Teachers plan to tailor a remediation program in physical science that addresses the unique needs of students, fosters deeper understanding of key concepts, and promotes academic success on the said subject. In the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), the Philippines ranked 77th out of 81 countries globally. The average science score for Filipino students was 356 points, which is one of the lowest among participating countries and economies. Approximately 23% of Filipino students achieved at least Level 2 proficiency in science, significantly lower than the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average of 76%. Unfortunately, almost no students in the Philippines reached the top performance levels (Level 5 or 6) in science. In summary, the Philippines faces challenges in science education, and efforts are needed to improve student performance and address socio- economic disparities. With the alarming results of summative tests of students in physical science, the teachers are motivated to conduct an intervention program to the significant portion of students struggling with the understanding of lessons and concepts in physical science. The main goal of this program is to Codify Learning Ability of Students in Physical Science (CLAPS). Making sure that the students in San Mateo Senior High School will leave no one behind.
