PROJECT PROPOSAL FOR THE READING MONTH CELEBRATION

II. Project Summary


In lieu of the current situation, Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School- SPED Center
stands resilient amidst the challenges of this pandemic. Inline with the Alternative Delivery Mode of
education, we, in MPIES SPED-Center, strives to design programs in order to ensure sustainability of
the new normal education. This includes implementing programs for the month of November, wherein
we are observing the Reading Month celebration, with the aim of promoting interest and love for
reading despite the current situation.

III. Project Background


Promoting reading is essential in every stage of the academe. More so, the school aims that
its’ school children would acquire necessary reading skills and to find pleasure in doing it. Thus, we
came up with the idea of Project REAP(Reading Engagement Amidst Pandemic). Despite being
locked at home, we envisioned our pupils to still engage themselves in reading. Holding unto the idea
that reading is a language skill, the school opted to design activities for this month long celebration,
that will feature the application of the different languages used in the curriculum, namely, the Mother
Tongue-Based Multilingual Education(MTB-MLE), Filipino, and English.

IV. Project Objectives


With the lined activities, our aim is to develop in every child great enthusiasm and
appreciation for reading given the different languages in the curriculum.

V. Project Methodology
These are the proposed activities for the Reading Month Celebration:

MTB-MLE
 Story Telling (Pagsaysay ug Sugilanon)
 The contest is open for K2-Gr. III Pupils, with 1 Representative per class.
 The contestants shall tell a story using the Mother Tongue.
 The story may be adapted or original.
 The contest piece to be submitted will be in the form of video.
 The video must be 3-5 minutes.
 The use of foul and vulgar words is strictly prohibited.
 The screening committee will be pre-judging all entries and select top 10 entries to
qualify for the final round.

Criteria for Judging:


Most number of reacts and share (online) - 20%
Delivery and style - 20%
Voice Projection - 20%
Stage Presence - 20%
Content - 20%

FILIPINO
 Book Character Modeling (Pagmomodelo ng Tauhan sa Kwento)
 The contest is open for Gr. I -Gr. VI Pupils.
 The contestants shall simulate/resemble a book character.
 The book character to be portrayed shall come from Filipino myths, stories, or
legends.
 The contest piece to be submitted will be in the form of picture (through online
submission).
 Pictures to be submitted shall be raw and not digitally edited(e.g. use of digital
background).
 The screening committee for this contest, will pick 10 photos, which will qualify for
the final judging round.

Criteria for Judging:


Most number of reacts and share (online) - 20%
Poise - 20%
Appearance - 20%
Creativity in Expression - 20%
Overall Composition - 20%

ENGLISH
 Creative Poster Making
 The contest is open for Gr. I - Gr. VI Pupils.
 The contestants will make a poster showing the importance of reading.
 The materials to be used for the creative poster making are oil pastel and ¼
illustration board.
 The contest piece to be submitted shall be the original output of the child.
 At the back of it, a short paragraph written on a letter size bond paper, describing the
importance of reading (as portrayed in the poster), will be posted (with at least 3-7
sentences using the English Language).
 There will be two categories for this event. Category A is composed of K2-Gr. III
Level pupils, Category B for Gr. IV-VI pupils.
 The screening committee for this contest, will pick 10 posters from each category,
which will qualify for the final judging round.

Criteria for Judging:


Most number of reacts and share (online) - 20%
Creativity and Presentation - 40%
Originality - 20%
Relevance to the Theme - 20%
100%

Four winners will be selected for each competition.


These winners will be ranked:
Champion
First Runner-up
Second Runner-up
Third Runner-up
Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.

November 18,2020 - Online posting of Top 10 Photos
November 23,2020 - Submission of Videos for Story Telling
November 25,2020 - Online posting of Videos
November 28,2020 - At 12 Midnight, Online Voting will be closed
November 29,2020 - Final judging (to be done by subject committees)
December 7,2020 - Awarding (During School Convocation)
