TYRO TURFS Box Cricket Rules

Date of Tournament: 5th May, 2024

Format:

1. Team Composition: Each team consists of 8 + 1 players.

2. Match Format: Matches will be played in a league and knockout format.

3. Playing Format: 2 matches each Team will play, top 1 teams will qualify to semi-finals. Winning
team will be awarded 2 points each. If one team forfeits a match, the other team will get 2 points.

4. Over’s: Each match consists of a 8 over’s per innings in league matches & 8 overs per innings in
semi finals & finals to keep the matches fast-paced.

5. Scoring: Runs scored off the walls or boundaries count towards the team's total score. Extras like
wide and no-balls also apply.

6. Dismissals: Normal cricketing rules apply.

7. Umpiring: Neutral umpires are appointed to ensure fair play and enforce the rules. Umpires
decision will considered as last and final decision.

8. Tie-breakers: In case of a tie during knock out matches, a super over will be used to determine the
winner, during league stage the points will be shared.

Playing Rules:

1. A match will be played with 8 players on each side, and the teams will be named before the toss.
No substitute can skip 2 matches in a row.
2. Each player on the fielding team has to bowl at least one over, and no player can bowl more than
1 over’s per innings.
3. In the event of a tie during Quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals to determine the winner, will play a
super over.
4. Each team will have a maximum of 30 minutes to complete their quota of 8 over.
Batting:

1. Byes and Leg Byes are allowed in the match.


2. If the ball hits any of the nets in a zone and then goes to the boundary, only four runs will be
added to the score. Runs taken before the ball reaches the boundary will not be counted.
3. To score a six, the ball must be hit directly onto the boundary net on the opposite side of the
batting side without touching any other net. If the ball touches any surface (including the roof), it
will count as a boundary and not a six.
4. Overthrow runs will be added to the total runs taken before the throw.
5. The non-striker must stand at the running or bowling crease. A run will be considered completed
when the striker reaches the running or bowling crease from the batting crease and the non-
striker reaches the batting crease from the running or bowling crease.
6. The non-striker must remain fully within the running crease until the ball is delivered. The
opposing team can claim a wicket if the player moves out of the running crease before the ball is
bowled without any warning.
7. Runners not allowed. If there an injury then the opposite team captain can approve for a runner.
8. If ball touches boundary net during overthrow, the overthrow boundary will be awarded but in
other net zones no extra runs will be awarded, however batsman can run to score runs .

Bowling and Fielding:

1. 7 fielders are allowed to field at one point in time. Plus 1 bowler.


2. The bowler needs to bowl from the running / bowling crease (throw bowling only).
3. Over-stepping from the bowling crease shall be considered a no-ball. Even a waist high full-toss
shall be considered a no-ball.
4. Every wide or no-ball shall be considered as an extra run. An extra ball will be awarded. No free hit
will be awarded.
5. No bouncers allowed. Umpire call is final.
6. The mode of dismissals permitted are caught, caught behind, stumping, run-out, bowled, hit-
wicket and obstructing the field. No LBW rule is there in this format. No runs if a shot is not
attempted.
7. Stumping on no-ball will be considered. Only run out will be considered on a no-ball.
8. If the ball touches any of the roof net, and then is caught by any fielder, it shall be considered out.
9. No underarm bowling is allowed, a bowler will have to bowl the ball properly with speed
restriction as warned by the umpires.
10. The fielding placement rules for the innings are:
Maximum only 4 fielders are allowed of the bowling line.
11. One player from the bowling team must compulsorily appointed for wicket keeping.
12. If fielders touches the boundary ropes during the catch, the six/ four shall be awarded to batting
team how ever in other net zones, fielders can touch the net while catching the ball

Rule to ensure Fairplay :

1. All teams are given 8+1 players in the team. In order to ensure the fairplay, we have introduced
these rules.

2. If the team has only 6 players present; one player will get the repeat batting & the player will be
chosen by the opponent team captain. ; fielding will be done by 1 player short.

3. The process has to be done before start of the match.

4. If the team has 5 or less players; they have to forfeit the match & opponent team will be declared
the winner

Rules:

1. Since to maintain discipline format, the captains along with the teams should reach the ground
before 30mins of their scheduled time. The toss for the match shall be done in the break between
the previous match, and hence the teams are required to abide by the time.
2. Every team registered players only will be allowed to play the tournament. Track pants and sports
shoes are mandatory (Shorts are not allowed)
