1. The number of primary and secondary windings is 80 and 120 respectively. The secondary
voltage is given by 240V, determine the primary voltage.
Solution: Vp/Vs=Np/Ns
Hence Vp=160V

is given by 300V, which determines the secondary voltage.

9. A 10 kVA transformer has core losses of 70 W and copper losses of 100W. If the PF of the load is
90%, find efficiency at full load.
A 400 kVA transformer has full load copper loss of 51.56 KW. The iron loss is 2.5
Kw and the primary and secondary voltages are 5 kV and 320 V respectively. If
the power factor of the load is 0.85, determine the efficiency of the transformer (i)
on full load and (ii) on half load.

Rated output = 400 kVA = 400x10 kVA3

In a 25KVA, 2000/200V power transformer, the iron loss and full load copper
losses are 350W and 400 W respectively. Calculate the efficiency at unity power
factor at a) full load b) half load
Efficiency: 97.08%
Efficiency=96.52%
The iron loss and full load copper loss of a 100KVA, 66KV/4KV single phase
transformer are 600W and 900W respectively. a) Calculate the efficiency at full
load and half load at 0.8pf lagging b) Calculate the load at which maximum
efficiency will occur at same power factor
